What a weak final-compared to the years we had The Ugly Old Omni battling SRT4's for the win.

Alan, your efforts are appreciated, as are your reports.
    John Laing

"The sole condition which is required in order to succeed in centralizing the supreme power in a democratic community, is to love equality, or to get men to believe you love it. Thus the science of despotism, which was once so complex is simplified, and reduced . . . . to a single principle."
    -- Alexis de Tocqueville

"One of the methods used by statists to destroy capitalism consists in establishing controls that tie a given industry hand and foot, making it unable to solve its problems, then declaring that freedom has failed and stronger controls are necessary."
    --Ayn Rand

"To evolve, you don't need a Constitution. All you need is a legislature and a ballot box . . . . things will evolve as much as you want. All of these changes can come about democratically; you don't need a Constitution to do that and it's not the function of a Constitution to do that."
    -- Justice Antonin Scalia

No doubt! Maybe next year we can promote the event more, I've always wanted to make it out!

We checked everything, made sure no leaks in Vac line, then to be sure we did away with the factory Vac source that also runs to the FPR and ran a dedicated line to the intake manifold that ONLY went to the MAP sensor. So after being frustrated by an intermittent 13 for about 4 hours, we started calling trying to find an 89 turbo Trans Am/Firebird unit. No way we were gonna find one right? Way! The GM dealer 15 iles away has one on the shelf!! The drive seem to take forever and I'm certain they're calling my class and I'm missing passes $183. Glad to pay it if it fixes my problem but wait, the number on the 1995 Delco box is correct, but the MAP sensor inside has a different number. Uh Oh. Not a supersede either, counter guy insists that the part number on the sensor DOES NOT exist in the GM part system, hell, he doesn't know what it is If I take a chance on it, it's non returnable, uh OK, thanks Chevy. So even tho he insists that 'he could get fired' he sell it to me at employee price, $117. done. On my way back to the track, but wait, there's a Pep Boys... GUy in there is super helpful, no he doesn't have it but he can have it in the am for $260. Uhhh.... He starts calling around, other stores, CARQUEST, Autozone, NAPA-Bingo, NAPA has it for $120. Head over there, made in China, low quality piece but it comes up 1989 3.8 Firebird with Turbo. OK then... Back to track, install, start Woody, CEL is out now for 30 seconds. GAH!

Anyway an hour of frustration later, an TM experienced guy says, "you know, that vacuum source looks iffy" We're like no, we've already changed it. He's like yeah, OK but it looks iffy. So with nothing left to try or to lose, we change the vac feed to MAP again. Fixed. No CEL. Even after 30 seconds or 5 minutes. I've missed 5 passes total in 2 different classes. One more pass to the day left, it's 5:30 Launch hard feels good but a little soft, is it the 5 gals of 110 VP leaded I had to put in? I took 2 PSI outta the fuel pressure,,, 14PSI boost ( a whole 'Nuther issue, couldn't get it to go any higher) the 87 CSX guy from Utah (Jeremy I think?) goes motoring right around me even tho I treed him AND 60'd him(and he's on 26X8.5 slicks and I'm on 23.5X7.5's) He ran 14.0 and I ran a 15.20. Oh well, nothing broke and I had fun. In me heart I know Wooody will run a 14.XX on 91 Octane at 16PSI Just not this trip. On to random pics

My old SRT6 was there DOMINATION the Auto X course, guy has spent some greenbacks on it, painted it some Ferrari Grigio color, pulley, tune, suspension. Hate the color, still like the car!
Hey Alan - Can you elaborate on what was done to the Mitsu turbo you're running in the van? I'm putting a 2.2 + Mitsu (because I have a ton of Mitsu's and parts laying around) in my GLH project. It won't need to abide by any rules since it's just a street toy. If you got a little bit more out the Mitsu, I'd be interested to know what was done...

Pretty sure he posted pictures of his turbine and swingvalve porting somewhere?

Re: Las Vegas and Mopars At The Strip March 27-29 2015 Anyone else in?

Just about every turbo I've run in the last 20 years has between 2 and 10 hours of hand cutting/porting done inside the housings. I really feel like I can improve the flow thru the exhaust side and the spool up with careful material removal. The Mitsu I just put on the Mini was about a 4 hour job. Pics of that work is in this thread.

As far as the wheel dimensions, I wish I had better info for you, I'm not a numbers geek so basically I gave it to my guy that's been upgrading turbos for me for 15 plus years, he's in San Bernadino about an hours drive away so he's local. I tell him how much more flow I want and he puts the wheels in there he has avail. This mitsu just had a larger compressor wheel of modern design compared to the old school '10 blade' design and an 8 degree clip on the turbine side to reduce backpressure. For $175. more he could have ordered a much better turbine wheel but it would have been a 2 week wait so I opted out. With an unlimited class it would sure seem to make sense to jump to a Garrett tho right?
