Thanks. Yeah, that thing started out like an extremely course emery board itself. Don't know where from, but learned young that polishing is really just a series of finer and finer scratches. We used to polish up a bunch of our dirtbike parts in my younger years when we used to tear up the trail covered hills in SoCal.

Figured since I've been working so much overtime, I could afford to put a recently available item on the card and check it off of my build wish list. Just went and picked up from the local fedex office a brand new Quaife ATB Helical Limited Slip Differential purchased only days ago from FWD Performance! Thanks Cindy!

So stoked to get this piece! Finally touched base with lengel, and he is hooking me up with some bronze shift fork pads to deck out the tranny with.

My friend that loaned me his to pull my engine, saw and picked this up for me for $100 at a garage sale today. Hasn't even worn off all the paint on the outside diameter of the wheels yet. Score!!!

Haven't been able to do much with it lately between work & more work. Got my set of Drive Shaft Shop Level 5 axles in the other day though! Yay!

Feeling a bit guilty for not being able to get more done on it. I did recently manage to get the rear axle disassembled.

More pics. Almost ran out of rear brake shoe.

Almost ready to go get blasted & powder coated. Think I'll box it in for more stiffness before I have it done. Anyone know, would an axle from a Daytona, or Turbo Lebaron have a "beefier" axle so to say, if I could find one?

Daytona Shelby has a solid bar going thru the rear axle. Maybe a LeBaron GTC is the same. The other cars have a hollow tube (like yours).

    They're also 1/2" wider.

Great info. Thanks Rob. Think I may stick with what I have then, considering I have a polybushings rear sway bar going in also.

Re: My '92 Sundance refresh, rebuild, & conversion log

Haven't been able to spend much time with the car as too many things that need taken care of always seem to pop up. Having to do some front end work on the car which is kinda my daily for now, a 99 DOHC Taurus I've owned for many years also(now 278K mi on the odometer). We haven't had rain pretty much the whole time like the last several months that I haven't been able to spend time on the car, and as soon as I start to get some spare time it started raining again. It finally cleared up today enough so I put some old clothes on and got out there and started cleaning up the under belly. I got the majority of it cleaned up but ran out of daylight.

Cleaned up pretty well with a little simple green, liquid soap, and scrub brush.

The rear passenger side cleaned up in comparison to the rest:

This photo actually came out pretty good for a night shot. Still need to take the brake lines off and clean under there.

I almost couldn't believe it myself. That's going to save some time on getting it done because I kinda had been planning on wire wheeling off the whole surface and redoing it, but seeing how practically new it looks with just a cleanup, I think I can spend that time on other stuff.

Re: My '92 Sundance refresh, rebuild, & conversion log

I'm in for one of the chromoly bearing support plates that lengel has been so kind to design and soon make available to the community which is going to really help build the transmission up along with the bronze shift fork pads and quaife differential I have to put in there. So in the process of going to remove the stock plate I found that, oh duh, need some special tools now.

So from a couple different sources I've been able to pick up most of what I should need to work on the tranny going forward. Got a Miller 6252, C-4693, C-4888, and for the differential stuff, a C-293, and adapters C-293-45, C-4171, an L-4410, C-4495, and should have a C-4996 soon.

They sure are nice and heavy duty. If there's one thing I've learned and that's that nothing beats having the right tool for the job, figured at least these should let me get most of it done by the book. Still need to find a dial indicator and good inch pound torque wrench for re-assembly.

These units are nothing to work on but having the right tools does make it go soooo much easier and without ruining unobtainable parts.

I'm not sure what this reads up to, but I got one like this to set bearing preload on all of my transmissions.
