    Powdercoating Finish Choices

Decided that since I am re-building my engine, it is a good time to get most of my engine parts powder coated. Parts are either painted or polished right now. I will be adding back any blue accents that are there now. Here is how the engine looks:

Here is a break down of my plan.
    Black Wrinkle Finish:
    2.5” Aluminum Intercooler Piping
    3” Aluminum Intake Piping
    Intake Manifold
    Valve covers
Valley Cover (8" x 18" Bent Aluminum Plate)

    Gloss Black Finish:
Strut Tower Brace- Debating on wrinkle black finish
    Oil Pan
    Catch Can
Turbo Compressor Cover- Debating on wrinkle black finish

I made some brackets for the radiator, catch can, and 02 sensor wiring. Debating on what finish to go with.

Anyone have some good ideas? Thanks

    Re: Powdercoating Finish Choices

IMO, if you want to keep it clean and make it easier to clean. Stay away from the wrinkle finish. A smooth finish is easier to keep looking clean. With a wrinkle finish, it just adds texture that will collect and hold dirt/oil/grease and over time will look like crap without taking a lot of time to keep clean. I do my own powdercoating in my garage. A smooth finish can easily be wiped off, or sprayed down with engine degreaser and look good. Texture, like a wrinkle finish, you need a scrubbing brush to keep it looking clean.

Pretty much everything blue I did myself.
