Me doing a little bit of work on the car about 6 years ago at a house I rented. Mounted the Alcohol injection pump, battery tray and did some powder coating. That's it for all the work I did back in the day, I'll get the pictures of the current work posted once I get them organized and keep you posted on the progress.

It’s time to live in the now… 98% of the previous picture were taken 7-11 years ago. I picked up the motor from Brian in October and have been working on it ever since. I decided to assembly everything on the motor before I put it in to make sure it didn’t lose anything over the years and that it didn’t miss anything. Well… things changed and I realized I wasn’t even close to dropping the motor in. Part of the problem was it didn’t look good enough and I have a different vision today versus back then on what it should look and function like. This caused me to stop, drop and roll which cost me more money and time but in the end it will make the car even better. I knew traction would be a huge issue with a 500+hp goal and as I started getting back into this project it became extremely clear to not spin my tires and do it right. I bought a Peloquin LSD diff, Koni coil over shocks & struts and tubular k-frame and control arms. As of now I’m waiting to get the trans back with the LSD installed but at the end of the day it’s not a big deal since I wasn’t happy with the way the bolts looked on the motor. I bought some fasteners from the dealership and other places and media blasted the ones I was keeping and did a cold Black Oxide process to restore them to a better condition. I shoot for perfection but my black cloud requires me to settle for less but at the end of the day it looks pretty decent. I still have obstacles to overcome due to lack of knowledge but like I always say failure is not an option. Enough with the rambling it’s time for the latest and greatest pics.
Nice to see my tube k frame and arms are going to be put to good use.
Once I decided to purchase a Peloquin LSD then I had to make the trans look better so it didn’t stick out on the engine compartment. I bought all new tins years ago and modified the transmission oil pan them powder coated it. I media blasted the trans outside on a beautiful 30 degree day and then sent it to the shop to get the diff replaced. The slightly changed the shift cable brackets and then powder coated them. Once I get the trans back it will get painted and then I will replace the tins. I also powder coated the differential bearing mount.

I didn’t like the look of my starter and torn it apart, cleaned and painted it. A couple of the brushes broke off and I figured I would order new parts and kept going with this project. Once I was near completion I realized there was a $10 difference between ordering the parts and buying a remanded starter that had a heat shield and lifetime warranty on it. It was a no brainer and put it back together for a core and bought the remanufactured unit. I get parts at almost cost from my job and is the only reason for the pricing to be so close.

Great job! I think it's awesome you have been able to stick with it. My project seems like it's following the same time frame as yours!
BTW, who's '92 Silver Spirit R/T?
Be careful of that heat shield! I had the tine break off on mine and it rattled around enough to ground out the starter wires and fried the starter solenoid wire. I got lucky that's all it fried!
As far as the remaned parts go...I have mixed feelings on that. I worked for Auto Zone for a few years and dealt with reman products from several suppliers. One constant was that the reman parts never seem to last as long as the OEM part. I understand why you simply replaced the entire unit, but because of the crap-shoot type of luck with remans (especially things like starters), I'd just rather clean up my old one and replace the brushes and bushings...maybe have the commutator turned. At least then I know it was done and not just cleaned off and a fresh paint sprayed on it (I swear some parts seem like that's what they did!).
Jason Flood owns the Spirit R/T. We redid the motor and replaced a bunch of parts under the hood and did some powder coating, it came out really nice.

Thanks for the heads up on the heat shield. I'm with you on reman parts but worse case I can always fix it.
I needed to put a idler pulley for the timing belt on the front of the motor and didn’t want to go through the hassle of having someone make a spacer for me. I ended up getting a T/B idler pulley from a VW 1.8L and had to make a spacer to line it up. I pulled a MacGyver and used some ½” black pipe I had laying around, grabbed a used mid 80’s GM caliper slider pin, drilled a hole in the pipe, gently hammered the slider pin inside, welded the hole and cut it to length. I ended up having to do it twice because the first one was too short and then powder coated it.
