'For the SBEC, the bootstrap line is multiplexed with the Rx line' is more technically correct. But, the average person doesn't know what 'multiplexing' is. There is a circuit inside the SBEC that protects the Rx line on the processor from the 12v, while also sending 5v to the MODE pins. So, when the SBEC is turned on, the processor starts in the special bootstrap mode.
    Okay cool

Rob, now for the juiciests of juicys, can you make individual separate articles describing each special turbonator feature and how it works/is setup? Even if they are just bare bones skeleton articles with the basics. I think that would really get people excited to see what fun they can have with the Turbonator world

Yep, I plan to do that with the base cal setup stuff. Maybe I can work on that tonight. Not sure, as I have a bunch of soldering to do now that I'm back in town. Didn't get as far on the wiki as I planned while I was in Germany...

Im all apart right now and working 6 days a week out of town. But I will be following this very closely. Want to set up data logging with wide band when I put every thing back together. And If I can down load a stock cal from some where I can play with MPTune while at hotel.

After reading wikki , I see I need to down load Turbonator base codes for 88 89 T2 Smec. Is there a link to this anywhere.

Re: Who here wants to get started tuning the stock ECU?

I need to find a good place to host the Turbonator files. Right now, they're posted here on TM in the ECU Repository section as the 'official' release area.

I've got several ways to do it, (Dropbox, Google Drive, my own server, etc.). Just need to think about the best way.

For now, just get the files from here.

Well, I just ran into a problem of the most basic kind lol. Tried to download the MPTune.zip on my wife's Win7 laptop, and it gives me an error message regardless of what app I pick. In WinXP I always used WinRar but I don't have it on this computer. Am I missing something? Haven't used Win7 much yet...

I've started the class thread for communicating with the ECU. Please continue discussion of your attempt to get MPSCAN working there:

Can you describe your error message in detail in that thread please

An alternate way, is to get a latch board (http://www.boostbutton.com/store/en/...tch-board.html) for the SBEC. Then you can both use the same chips (27SF512) and the Moates Burn2.
So, does the latch board just plug directly into the existing 28 pin socket I have installed?

Yes, it does. It just goes in between the socket in the SBEC and the 27SF512 chip.

Thank you Sir. I already have my cart filled at your site, I am ordering the latchboard, cable, and some SF chips tonight. Do you have everything in stock?

I think I need to assemble a cable, but everything else is ready to go. I just built a few latch boards yesterday...

Sweet, I just put my order in for the items, stoked about learning about logging and this style of programming. Electrical circuits and this type of programming were not my favorites in school, that is why I became an Aerospace guy.

I ordered a flashable smec last night. Does it come with the wire to add to the 60-way? If not where can I get one?

You ordered just the flashable SMEC; not the bundle (the bundle comes with the data cable and a surplus 60-way pin/wire). I can just send you a pin/wire, but do you already have an SCI-USB cable?

Yes, just the one cable. I'll just throw a pin/wire into the box with the SMEC. Not a big deal.
