    Rebuild: Turbo Minivan, Part II

I think the time has come to switch over to a new thread... the van is going under a hard new direction of what was originally intended.

The 1990 Caravan that we recently acquired is getting stripped and parts spread amongst our collection of vans.

Here's what we've got cookin' for this van...

Giant FMIC from CX Racing. Basically a Powerstroke intercooler in bar and plate core. Measures 39"x16"x3.5". Takes two people to carry it around.

Lengel custom intake with ported two piece lower along with Lengel ported and smoothed 58mm throttle body.

Pair of Snow 175 ml/min alcohol nozzles. Will go along with the Zex single fogger.

2.5" hot and 3.0" cold side polished aluminum charge pipe tubing with silicone couplers and stainless T-bolt clamps.

    Ported +1mm cylinder head.

Exhaust side of the project. Tubing, 5 bolt weld flange, flex pipe, dump tube for wastegate, exhaust wrap, all for making the downpipe. Will run an electronic exhaust cutout and dump everything behind the K-frame once complete.

    Tial 38mm external wastegate.

Turbine weld flange for custom header.

    Turbine blanket.

When the exhaust valve is closed for the street, noise will be piped out back through a Magnaflow muffler...

Engine already has a 1 piece pan gasket but surely couldn't hurt to toss a new one on.

Painted K-frame. Will paint front lower control arms to match and complete with poly. bushings

More soon. I'll keep this thread updated as we get more parts. Expect the tear down of the donor van around beginning of February and the build on this around March-ish.

If you plan to retain power brake booster, you will find the Lengel plenum does not give you much clearance for the throttle body in a van.

Oh that's tight. Wouldn't have thought fitment would be an issue on a van of all vehicles. Looks like Tight 90° coupler should clear. We'll see when we get it on. Thanks for the heads up!

T3/t04e super 50 trim / .63 Chrysler turbine with stage 2 wheel. A bit small imo for our goals but it's being donated from the 90 caravan so we'll see how far it takes us.

With the header we're thinking of turbo removal well be simple.

Yeah, Rob those one piece Fel-pro gaskets are sweet. I'll have to look up the part number and report back.

Every 2.2/2.5 we own has one.

In fact we even have a sweek one piece, metal reinforced one piece valve cover gasket for the tbi van.

Re: Rebuild: Turbo Minivan, Part II

Holatta is goiing to OhioRobs, aka Rob Pachner's shop the weekend on 2-7-15 to be stipped to the bone.

We are removing the motor, transmission, gauges, nitrous system, alcohol system, all the poly mounts, all the tinted glass.
Both front doors (complete), the sliding door (complete), rear power window motors, power storke intercooler, front wheels & tires will be removed as well
Basically we are leaving just the shell with the windshield along with the rear axle and tires/wheels.

My son Bryan, aka Dave will be there helping Rob as well.

Once we get the van stripped I will be posting some stuff up here for sale.

Then we move on to RUBY to swap the motors/transmission and all the new parts.

Re: Rebuild: Turbo Minivan, Part II

Today we ordered the 4th cylinder coolant mod and awaiting shipment.

Parts are on order to rebuild the 413 transmission.

We have to buy a set 72 PPH F/I

After that it is time to take the old motor & trans out and put in the new.

Once those are in it is going to a fabricator for a side mount tubular header set up.

    Pics to come soon.
