    Thought I'd share, 66mm x 86mm billet HX40 wheel!

This is going on my diesel van, need more mass of air and the 60mm billet extended tip wasn't enough. If this works great, its going on my TIII van.

My current turbo is an HX35 turbine side, 12 cm housing and a factory 56x86 billet 6 blade compressor wheel, running 15 psi and aprox 2:1 DP but I believe that's due to a few scavenge pump failures filling up my muffler, used to be much less. Have some testing to do and if it needs it, a 14cm housing or an HX40 16cm housing.

Pics of the extended tip billet 60mm billet wheel added and compared to a standard HX40 cast wheel.

I wonder how much laggier it will be? Not sure about the combo but at least HX has the larger turbine wheel and more housing options. I am not really a fan of the 56mm He3xx holsets. Not sure if it needs more compressor wheel or what. If it did then it justifies your choice. Would be interesting if the compressor wheel would create more boost at a lower drive pressure. That is something I don't know how to predict or if the opposite will happen.

I first ran the HX35 7 blade wheel, spooled fast but ran out of steam really early, put the 56x86 billet Volvo wheel on, still spooled fast, way more power all over and better DP readings, but ran out of steam up top, not as fast as the HX35 wheel. Gauge broke so didn't get to check with the 60mm billet wheel but that wheel made the engine rev out like a 2 stroke, it just wouldn't stop pulling but midrange suffered, it was manageable but for what I do, just didn't like it. I should be putting the 66mm wheel on hopefully in the next 2-3 weeks.

The beauty of the Holsets are if they have a 12 point compressor nut, each component is balanced by itself so as long as nothing is damaged, you can swap away.

This is the factory billet wheel.

That billet 56 volvo wheel looks like a shiny cast wheel design wise. The others look optimized. How exactly are you hoping the 66mm helps midrange? Looks like it will flow more but not as good at pressuredue to the trim (inducer vs exducer). Seems like a good 3.0L compressor wheel.

I think a 66mm would be fun in a VGT, I also found out they have 72mm wheels available for the Duramax and Powerstroke VGT turbos through "dansville" who sells diesel stuff.
Customer reported it being more responsive than a mild compound turbo setup and making the same power. I would assume the Duramax and Powerstroke guys have control of the VGT function to provide that responsiveness.
