Yep - thanks so much. When I get the car back on the road maybe I can swing by sometime, or meet up at the place where your car's at. Do you do any of the local shows around here? I'm often at - Beef O'Brady's in Brimfield on Wednesdays, Maize Valley in Hartville on Thursdays, and Wink's Drive-In in Barberton on Saturdays.

Got an update today. They are waiting for materials and expected them to be by the end of next week. Taking longer than planned but they don't stock any/many parts for our axles

Awesome - thanks for the update. I had to get mine back on the road, so I grabbed a cheapo $70 passenger axle since I ditched the stub axle. I would have been able to finally make a full throttle pull in 3rd gear, but I had to lift at 5000 since I ran out of road and the car just kept accelerating harder. It should be a fun summer.

I'll post pics as soon as I unbox mine!
Received, will have to file 2 splines on the drivers input side. They are a touch knicked. Outside of that I think we are good to go!
Got mine in - stuck working on some bugfixes tonight (software developer). I'll try to post pics tomorrow.
I received my DSS axles and when I tried to insert them into my early 3.50FD/Neon T350 Quaife, the driver side went in easily and bottomed out so the seal rides correctly on the sealing surface. However, the passenger side axle would not go in far enough to engage the splines (I tried it on both sides of the Quaife to see if it was the same on both sides, and it was).
In the past I had taken a dremel with a cutoff wheel and ground on the splines on other axles to get them to fit into the Quaife, but I was hesitant to make any modifications to my new DSS axles (warranty issues, etc).
So I pulled the Quaife out of the trans, and disassembled it for inspection. After looking at the gears that mate to the axles, I realized that the passenger axle would insert partially into the gears if inserted into the back of the gear, but not if inserted the way it was intended.
Further inspection showed that the leading edge of the valleys between the splines on the gears were not as deep as the valleys farther back along the splines. The outer face of the gears has evidence of galling where it rides up against the housing of the Quaife. My theory is that the friction on that surface along with the galling has made the leading edge of the spline valleys shallow, so certain axles will not fit into the gear.
Here is a picture of the gear before modification:
(OK, I actually started opening up 3 valleys before I remembered I wanted to take a "before" picture)
I took a Dremel with a reinforced cut-off wheel and opened up the leading edge of the valleys.
Here is an "after" pic of the gear:
(The Dremel/cut-off wheel is not an extremely precise tool in my hands so it is not the prettiest, most consistent job of opening the valleys, but it was effective)
After cleaning up the leading edge of the valleys, My DSS axles as well as all of the other axles I have in my garage slid without resistance completely into both gears.
Now for the issue of the passenger side axle not going far enough into the Quaife:
As I was inspecting the internals, I noticed that one of the inner Belleville washers had wear marks on it from an axle rubbing up against the washer. To be safe, I ordered new Belleville washers (McMaster Carr part #96445K284) which ended up being about .4mm thicker when stacked up than my original washers, so they will have a little extra preload.
I noticed that the two retainers that hold the Belleville washers are not identical, and that one side was recessed while the other was not. So I installed the retainers into the center spacer with the recessed side facing the passenger axle.
When I reassembled the Quaife and tested the axles, the seals on both sides of the diff ride completely on the sealing surface of the axle and appear to be within 1/16" of an inch of fully seated, so there should not be any issues with leaks.
I hope this is useful if your axles won't fit into your Quaife.

Nice work Warren on figuring this out. Hopefully your fixes will help those out who haven't been able to get them in with cutting the axle.

I've seen some recent requests for DSS axles. Anyone interested in another Group Buy, list your info here:
Please list as following example:
1. Username - size
1. BadAssPerformance - G
In traditional GB fashion, please copy the previous list ands add your name next. At this point (since we do not yet know the price) your name on the list means you're down for ~$800 set of axles but all will be reconfirmed once we know the price.

Very interested. I do live in old continent, hope that is not a problem. I am not hurry at all.
Any issues with Quaife? I did cut my stock axle to make it fit with quaife.
