Re: DriveShaft Shop Axles - Group Buy

Weird. Brand new Quaife? I was going to put a Quaife in my last trans but went with the OBX I has instead because the Quaife was tight. I thought it might have been a buildup in the splines of cosmolene (sp) or whatever that heavy coating is they put on them so they don't rust in inventory or shipping. Let me know what you find, I'm really curious what could be different?

Also, note to ALL! Once installed, make sure that the convolutes of the CVJ boots are not all bunched up and rubbing on each other. If they rub, they will wear! I've had to scoot the short end down the center bar/shaft a bit a few I've installed.

Anyone else interested in another Group Buy? I asked and can get more at the same discount for another batch.

Nope haven't measured. What lengths are we looking for? My car is far from needing them at this time.

Re: DriveShaft Shop Axles - Group Buy

They should be 39 7/8" and 25" for big cars and 39 and 24 for L body. Mine are measuring about 40 to 40.5" and 25". Thinking I may have got a big car set by accident. Could everyone please measure as soon as you can?

Yeah I measured how JT said. Compress then relax and measure.

Mine came out long too. I got 24 7/8" and just a tick over 40."

Just measured a stock driver's side and come out with 24 1/4."

You can tell from spline to spline, they are too long.

So JT, you getting in contact with them to see what the deal is? Also, could it be that they compress further than the stock ones?

This isn't exact science but will give a rough idea. The long shaft is about 3/4" too long compressed. I compressed it against the vice and then marked the cardboard.

I have about 1/4" difference compressed on the small shaft.

JT, I greatly appreciate making this group buy happen. Let me know if I can help in any way, unfortunately I don't have my motor in the car yet and cannot do a test fit.

Thank you. This is what we all were thinking, but I wanted to rule it out before we went back to DSS with our complaint. My figuring was about 3/4"-1" on the long shaft and 3/8"-5/8" on the short shaft just eyeballing it.
