AAAAAAHHHHHH LESS THAN 3 WEEKS!!!!! I got my window decal in the mail today, so I'm in full prep mode.
There's the autocross track. It's pretty fun to watch or to run. Other than a 2.4-swapped Omni and a pristine TC, there wasn't much for the 80's cars there last year. I'd love to see more this year with SDAC being the same time. Gary D mentioned in his thread that he might run the CSX, which would be awesome.

How do I sign up for the autocross? Will there be vipers running in it? If so my sole goal will be to beat one.
Just get in line! Hotchkis puts on the event, and you can either watch, ride in their car, or run your own. There was one Viper last year that ran, but the lap times were a letdown.
There are two cars you'll have to beat. One is the Hotchkis Challenger:
...and the other is this machine:
I'm pretty sure that SRT-4 is the only car to beat the Hotchkis car last year. It belongs to a long-time 2GN member. Last year, there was an issue with the Hotchkis car, and this SRT-4 was giving rides while they fixed the Challenger!

Wow, a free autocross? Count me in! SDAC autocross for practice will be nice. I've never done it before.
I think there is a local 1/8th track that people head to on Friday.
Barry Miles has been denied FTD two years in a row because he was faster than the hotchkis cars.
WHAT?????????????????????? How can that work?

I think he was using tires that were considered to be out of class they allowed. Trust me, these guys don't want any car beating them, especially a small 4 door hatchback. He still rocked it, nonetheless.

I believe the Scaries also was too fast for their liking.

This sounds like a job for last year's autocross winner. Is Clark going this year?
I didn't realize that the autocross at Carlisle was a competition, let alone one that you could be disqualified from. I thought it was just an informal benchmarking thing for the people who run their own cars. As far as the Hotchkis Challenger, it doesn't need to be the fastest car out there to prove that it handles incredibly well. I understand that it's a sales thing for them to go out and slaughter a track in a car set up with their products, but I never heard anything about them preventing people from running their own no matter how fast they were. I could be wrong.

It's not a true competitive race, just whether or not you can beat their car. They disqualified the smaller cars that could beat them. I get that they will have a hurt pride when a car with half the cylinders beats theirs, but kinda lame if you ask me. Regardless, it's free to do it and you don't even need a helmet, as of last year.

As we all know, tires are HUGE factors in autocross performance. I think they were requiring a 200 treadwear rating. Run a legal tire in their event and I think you'll be OK. Hotchkis races little tiny Porsches too, so I don't think size or cylinders have anything to do with it. Although they did pull a little tomfoolery out here with Alan and my old GLHS in some combined event that used autocross and dragstrip times.

I know I started this thread...so I could go to both events.
My car is done, together and ready to go. Was going to head off tomorrow morning.
BIG issue. Seems this "new" engine had a rod knock.
So we can't go.
