    core shift picture

so in assembling BMF intakes where I bolt up the machined flanges to the head, I always notice that the amount of head port material that intrudes into the airway varies from port to port

so just to confirm its the head and not the machined flanges, I swapped the flanges from port to port and the intrusion remains the same...

things that make you go hmmm

Wow, goes to show, check everything.

"The sole condition which is required in order to succeed in centralizing the supreme power in a democratic community, is to love equality, or to get men to believe you love it. Thus the science of despotism, which was once so complex is simplified, and reduced . . . . to a single principle."

"One of the methods used by statists to destroy capitalism consists in establishing controls that tie a given industry hand and foot, making it unable to solve its problems, then declaring that freedom has failed and stronger controls are necessary."

    Re: core shift picture

When I'm porting a 'motor' I make templates(from old plastic X-ray film sheets) including bolt holes for intake manifold, Head, exhaust manifold, turbo and swingvalve. IMO it is important to make sure that each 'downstream' component (as it relates to airflow) is slightly larger than the terminus of the upstream part. I don't know if it makes much difference but ensuring that there are no steps in the pathway makes me feel better
