Def looks retarded from that pic. Remember, there are two small arrows that point out of the center of the cam gear. They line up with the split in the cam bearing caps. Sometimes need a mirror to see them dead on, but you should be able to tell (roughly) just eyeballing it.

Looks retarded. Just the cam timing, though, so that's good!

Re: 88' shelby Z quest for 11's (lots of pics)

Alrighty, cam timing fixed, accidently jumped a tooth on the intermediate shaft gear so now my distributor is turned really far to get the timing right. Seems like just nothing goes right lol.

Anyway, WOW! This thing is going to be so beast. Non intercooled 10 PSI and I can break the tires loose in second gear LOL. Spoolup was better than anticipated for sure, full boost around 3200 (of course that's only 10 PSI but still probably 3300-3400 for 20 PSI). But then again right now I have it necked down to 2.5'' at the end of the exhaust because that's the only size muffler I had on hand so it can pass inspection. Once it's full 3'' straight pipe it might spool a hair faster.

Appointment made for inspection on Wednesday so it's actually legal to drive

Intercooler installed today! 2.5'' charge pipes, 3'' intake routed to cool air. Modded talon BOV is on a 2.25'' pipe, so I attached it to the turbo (since the turbo has a 2'' outlet I used a 2.25 to 2'' adapter) and then stepped it up to the 2.5'' pipes then. Plus also I personally like the BOV mounted in the lower hose because why vent cooled air?

Also some pics of the interior finally. I just did a quick vacuum and cleaned the trash out. Still unsure what my last gauge will be, either EGT or oil pressure most likely.

    Yall like my spare tire(s)?

Re: 88' shelby Z quest for 11's (lots of pics)

And lastly for now, the 3'' exhaust install. Messed up slightly on the location of the hanger but it works anyway. My welder broke so I had to just mark it and take it to a friends house. Well you know it's never perfect if you don't tack it on the car, so like I said it works anyway.

Ran 1 short on the band clamps but figured that one didn't really matter much.

Re: 88' shelby Z quest for 11's (lots of pics)

That is a truly excessive amount of welding on that hanger! haha.

None of the ones i've built ever made me REALLY happy as far as fitment. You have to at least tack it on the car and then take down to weld the rest of the way. It's tedious to make it really nice. I've developed a lot of respect for people who do really good exhaust work, but sadly it doesnt seem like a rewarding enough skill to encourage people to get good at it. Really good exhaust guys still make ---- money and wish they were doing something else, so not many ever get good.

Those stainless band clamps are a lifesaver.

If you ever change anything on the exhaust, they are worth their weight in gold.

Agreed, been doing the same from day 1 on the Charger.

It's also louder in the lower pipe LOL. Guessing because hot air moves faster and/or there's more pressure in the lower pipe (due to pressure losses at the IC).

This intercooler is definitely doing it's job nicely. After a few WOT bursts I got out and felt the IC pipes. Lower pipe warm to the touch (only running 14 PSI so far), upper pipe very cold.

Cheap ones I found on craigslist, but they work. They are FX racing or something like that, paid $150 for both.

    Yup!!

BTW in regards to 3" exhaust on the Daytona. I had a really awful time trying to get a cat back kit installed myself. I finally took it to just a run of the mill exhaust shop, not a race shop, just a place which does mufflers and typical stuff. They hung that kit up with new hangers all in new spots, cleared the suspension, and its been problem free and rub free for 6 years, all for I think $100 and about an hour.

okay Im just going to throw some things out there, you probably already know them but:

-make sure you have absolutely ZERO electrical issues. Ive cracked 3 of 4 pistons because of HEP/alternator problems that directly or indirectly caused fuel shut off and detonation..
-make sure your injector wiring harness is absolutely 100% solid
-check the battery connections and make sure all that wiring is top notch and clean
-make sure your boost controller wont pop off or disintegrate or break somehow....because that would mean instantaneous out of control boost that you probably would not be able to stop fast enough.
-figure out some kind of plan to monitor combustion conditions while turning up fuel...since you probably cant count on just the knock sensor since its not in the same place as stock, you should have something else..this is where I draw a blank..there are listeners and things but I have never used one and "caught" knock happening so its hard to say if they work or not
-monitor your fuel pressure at full boost at least once and make sure its not dipping or anything weird...just due diligence in case a wire is loose or something isnt right about your new pump install or maybe a fuel line got kinked or who knows what
-check the spark plugs many times after boosting and make sure they look 100% fabulous..perfect nice tan, nothing unusual..

cant wait to hear the results on the 15th!!!!!!

What alternator problems specifically if I can ask?
Will do. I always check for corrosion everytime I put them on now since I had that problem once
    that's definitely good
got zip ties on all vacuum line connections to keep them from popping off
the knock sensor seems to be working great, if anything it's slightly more sensitive than stock so that's a good thing
I always watch my gauges, everything seems good so far.
I am a firm believer is checking the plugs as well. I pop them babies out a lot
