I have been experimenting with three different viscosities of trans fluid, and I've found I can vary the stall speed, but more importantly, I can vary the total slip by about 600 rpm. The most slip and best stall is with the lightest visc. B&M Trick Shift type F,(what I was running during testing) the mid visc. fluid is the tractor HyGuard or equivalent, and the highest visc.(above 30w) is the new ATI severe duty super F. I am aware I have just been covering up a problem with a mismatched convertor but for now I will just have to leave some performance on the table. I will sacrifice a few tenths for longevity.
I mention the converter without saying anything about how some wealthy people seem to have to buy 3 experimental converters and end up not liking any of them and trying again. Either they don't actually provide the reduction in slip desired or stall is all wrong. That process sounds terrible to me, especially whatever you do with the money burned on converters you don't like. Those converters also should cost a LOT more than what most people run.
Your setup creates a lot of heat in the fluid right? I would assume you do a good job of cooling it all down. That converter holding the OEM input shaft together going that fast sure can't be looked down upon.

That is another reason I have not changed convertors. I paid $1100 bucks for this one back in 2000. If-when I do anything, it will be to send this convertor back to Dynamic for service and upgrade as it has been a real sweetheart of a unit so far.

Temperature of the fluid would be fascinating to know...any data Warren?

Highest ever indicated temp (sensor in trans pan) was 220. That was testing stall speed many times during tip-in throttle enrichment adjustments. Normal race day temps never exceed 180 deg. Although local temp. inside convertor is probably 40-50deg. higher momentarily.

Hey Warren, I see you mentioning you are running out of fuel with your 95 pph injectors. I have some 152's low impedance I would sell pretty cheap if you're interested.
