number 534 or 435?

how do i tell for sure what number my 87 csx is? it has #534 on the dash and #435 on te rad support. can someone tell me which tranny im supposed to have in this car?

There is a VIN list sdac_guy is the current caretaker IIRC that will match the vin # to the shelby # assigned to the chassis. The original transmission would be a New Process Gear A-520.

534 is the correct dash plaque number. The plaque on the rad support is the engine number, which should be 453 (not 435 as you stated). A tip, adding the dash plaque number and the engine number should total 987 for the 1987 model year CSX.
