    Motegi Traklite 1's. 15x7, 5x100....BEST PRICE AROUND

Found this website and thought I'd give it a try so I placed an order for 1 Motegi Traklite. I called to follow up on the order and they said, they would check stock and send the paypal invoice. At that point I'm thinking....here we go...they won't have stock because they noticed their price was $60.00 below everybody elses pricing. Then they'll realize their error and change their pricing so there goes the "good deal".

About 30 minutes go by and I get a paypal invoice...I call them back, they said the product is available to ship to you and I couldn't log onto paypal fast enough to get this bargain. I'll repost when the wheel actually comes in correctly but as of now, all looks good.

So if you ever wanted a sub 10lb forged wheel, I don't think you'll get a better deal then this (Kelly are you listening, lol).

$228.00 each shipped to your door.

    Here is the info:

    Mike,
I'll be curious to see how a sub 10lb wheel holds up to some serious autocross and or roadcourse use. Light is cool, as long as they stay round. Those SSR wheels were cool right up until people started bendin them up simply autocrossing their cars. Excellent price! I almost bought a set of 16X7" Enkie RPF1's for my Shadow until I got a unbelievable deal on some OZ wheels.

Link to wheel info? I would love a light rim I could drive on the street... 9.5 lb Bogarts are sweet, but fragile!

We're the SSR's semi-solid forged? Here is Motegi's forged process. Not sure what the differences are, but I would imagine they'll hold up just fine. I'll certainly let you know.

Thanks for the LINK, to bad black is the only choice in color, but I could media blast them and then powder coat them in silver.

Forged 6061 versus machined (billet) is about the same strength. Cast A356 alloy maxes out between 22 and 30 ksi - whereas 6061 will have a strength in the 45ksi range. Or about 1/3 stronger. Meaning that about 30% of the material can be safely removed (all things being equal) without affecting strength. Given a decent design that focuses on strength versus aesthetics, the difference can be larger. They show some FEM and other engineering processes that they apply, so I'll assume they're doing just that.

Looks like they also shot-peen these rims after machining, which gives a residual compressive stress to the surface - this can help mitigate crack formation and also helps resist fatigue.

Media blasting can affect the results of the shotpeen they apply. Might be better to do a chem strip, or at least use walnut shell or soda blasting to avoid abrading or removing surface material.

Could also be hard anodised in black which contributes to strength I guess. I wouldn't mess with them.

No worries there Todd. These wheels have been run on just about every type of car at the SCCA runoffs, they're probably one of the most popular wheels for road course/autox applications lately. They have quickly become popular with the road course folks due to the lack of options for lightweight 15" wheels. Most places offering forged wheels are 17" dia and up.

I have seen two numbers on the weight for the Traklites, 9.8lbs and 9.9lbs. That's for a 15x7.

Combine that with a 35mm offset on the 5x100 15x7, and they are the perfect wheel for our cars (L-body). There just won't be many people in our community willing to fork over $1000 for a set of wheels.

Hmm if you want fat and skinny wheels for street and strip though, these looks like reasonable deals...

was just hunting forged wheels on racing junk to see if any of these Motegis turned up cheaper used.

On my car with the stock Centurions and 205's my rear passenger wheel drags in the fender on bumps. My old GLH did the same thing and that had 195's. What do people do to make a 7 inch rim fit with out dragging?
