    Suspension clanking

Been driving my Daytona, noticed a metal clanking sound in the rear of my car. Put it up in the air and I think I found the problem.

How did I tear this part and break it, not sure how.

I've seen them bend before but never break like that.... If your car has been lowered I would suggest buying an adjustable panard bar

You should buy one of Johnny's rear sway bars also, makes a WORLD of difference. Not to mention helps the shocks and springs in the back of that chubby daytona :P

What does thie bar do? Is it like a trackbar, I removed the passenger side of the bar for now and tried up the driver's side to the other bar that drops down. I have no idea how this broke, but it looks pretty violent. I am looking into Johnny's bar this winter. I will be autcrossing the car next year and that will help I'm sure!

It keeps the axle from swaying side to side, mainly.

Did some more digging, Look like I snapped the Panhard Bar. I see this as a good oppurtunity to replace this bar with Johnny's. Also add a rear sway bar, and replace the rear axle to frame bushings. All 4 corners will be riding on Poly at that time then. Should help on the autocross track in my big heavy tank.

what year daytona is it? If it's an 86-88 Shelby rear axle you don't want to replace those bushings with Poly.

    Re: Suspension clanking

I made that mistake, the PB bushings Race version is signicantly softer than the 86-88 Shelby rear bushings. added a lot of unwanted squish to the rear suspension.

Car is a 92 IROC R/T. I drove the car last night and it is a bit sketchy in the corners. I will be picking up a piece of square tubing after work. Drilling some holes and bolting my panhard bar back together to make it one piece for the remainder of the year. I will then swap out to some much stronger components.

    Re: Suspension clanking

I don't have a welder at this time, it's on the short list of needed tools. So I got a piece of 3/4" square steel tubing, drilled some holes, and tada. It's fixed, should hold up better than the original design. I used 5/16 bolts, cost 12 bucks.
