I had previously run the 99 Z28 on a borrowed set of slicks and fire jacket, nearly full nitrous bottle I had about three months ago a best of 10.51 at 131....then a couple of weeks later with borrowed M/T street strip tires 10.71 at 128 best. I wanted to slow the car down to slow 13.0s but high mph to run in the NMCA LS series and True Street index racing. Something is now going on with the T-6060 transmission...I can shift as fast as I can IF under 4500 rpm, if I try to shift at 6500 I must let off the gas pedal for the count of TWO or it will NOT go into gear! It is VERY frustrating, but is what it is. Since I wont have the money to fix the problem BUT did get it to run consistent it will be run like it is for the NMCA event at Indy in October....On my last two passes I ran 14.017 when shifting at 6500 and letting WAY off the gas, and ran a 13.997 shifting at 4500....all runs were at 109! When I bought the car the shift light was set right at the 7500 rev limit...when I ran the bottle I shifted at 7000 rpm with just a touch of grinding sound with barely lifting between shifts. A lot of guys are saying I need the aftermarket master clutch cylinder since the stock ones don't seem to give enough umph when pressed to properly disengage it. NMCA had brackets at Indy last year and I was semis in the Matchbox...this year the class has been eliminated. If I could run 14.5 index I could race the Box in Nostalgia....or 15.0 True Street....That is NOT going to happen unless a turbo swap is done!
BTW...the Z like all my cars are street driven...gets 28.2 mpg at 55 compared to the 23.5 from Matchbox. 1500 rpm = 63 mph on the Z while 3000 mph = 60 on the Box! In town the Box gets 15 while the Z gets 16!
