You will probably need 5-10mm worth of spacers. You can get hub centric 5x100 spacers for ~$22/pair on ebay. To get away with 10mm of spacer you would probably "need" longer wheel studs, and if you stack 5mm spacers to get it then the second one wont be hubcentric because the hub doesn't stick out that far iirc.
I would buy one pair of 5mm spacers to test fit a wheel at each end. If it needs more than 5mm but less than two 5mms (10mm) then you could look for some 7 mm spacers or something like that.
I know for a fact my 17x8 +35s fit with some slight clearance to spare.
I would put a 225/40/18 on it. Going wider might cause fender lip issues.
Dont push the red button. You hear me?
I have had 17"x7" w/40mm offset and 18"x7.5" with 35mm offset wheels on my Shelby Lancer with no fitment issues. Car has larger four wheel disc brakes from a Spirit R/T as well. Both wheels were Flik Wasps. I only needed the hub centric rings in my case.
edit: I tried posting a couple pics but it didn't work. I think the file size was too large. In my opinion the 18" wheels just didn't look right. The 17" looked much better. 18" was just too much for the H-body. For tires I chose 215/45/17 and 235/35/18 fwiw.
