Why not just keep it rod shifted? That's the way to go IMO. They make kits to cure the stock joints, and you can even get a conversion piece to run a 555 if you want.

The rod shifter is in the way of my 3" exhaust and I want to keep the 525 because it has a factory Shelby LSD and want to keep the stock look. Mainly need to know what kind of fabrication I might have to do to make it fit. I have all the shifter components from an 85 Daytona

I have a 525 with 3" downpipe in one of my GLHT's. The one that FWD sells fits good. You just need to fabricate the 3" end the donut fits on. I'm with cordes, the rod shifted 525 is better.

I have the exhaust system from TU and the shifter is in the way. I can use some flex pipe to get around it but I'm not crazy about using that.

What fabrication is needed on the donut end?

Easy way is to just graft a stock 2.5" end onto the downpipe. If you're running a stock O2 housing, either 2.25" or 2.5", that's the way to go. The 3" donut will fit in a 2.5" housing, but the fit is not great and you will replace donuts as regular maintenance.

Another option is to get a full downpipe, and fabricate the section around the shifter, as I did:

    It's tight, but it fits.

I too would stick with the stock rod shifter by any means necessary.

Another option for the 3" down pipe in the 2.5" SV is to port the SV. You can get it darn near 3" and the pipe will fit very well at that point.

I have a 3" sv on the turbo so that is not a problem. the fabricated downpipe around the shifter looks like a good alternative.

Herb, the rod shifted is definitely the way to go without cutting holes in the tunnel.
