Thread: headgaskets available?

    headgaskets available?

MP gaskets no longer available, no longer making, no longer any in stock through mother mopar. I need a good headgasket for my 85 early t2 build but i dont think what i'm building warrants buying a Cometic head gasket. I know the other option is Felpro. Anything else? Peoples feelings toward either and why? I know Cometic is always worth the money, but would felpro do just fine on a build under 225hp?

    Re: headgaskets available?

TU still had OEM Mopar upper gasket sets when I needed a head gasket a few months ago.

Edit, just looked and they show the older set out of stock. I had ordered the later set, I think he said he had 8 more at that time. I don't know if there is any meaningful difference in the head gaskets?

Fel Pro works fine for me for two cars, one at 14.3 at 99.7mph and the other 14.2 at 102mph.

New felpros are fine. I ran a ton of low 11's at 124-125 on 24+ psi and a 75 shot of nitrous, and numerous rev limiter slamming autox passes on one.

Tom, you can use a cross drilled head gasket on the earlier blocks and heads. Many have done it and it works fine.

I think il take my chances with felpro. If i gotta take it apart again at least the parts arent 20 year old rusted together

I rather not chance a problem using the crossdrilled gasket with the price it is vs a felpro

Dodge still sells head gaskets for the 2.2 and 2.5.
    Just not Mopar Performance.
    They are just as good.

Weren't the later Mopar gaskets the same as the MP gaskets anyway?
