Loss of oil pressure at WOT

    Hello,

I got my 89 Shelby Daytona running last night. While on a test drive I noticed that under full boost and WOT that my oil pressure gauge quickly (1-2 seconds) drops until the needle can't go any lower. Once I let off it slowly (2-4 seconds)returns to a normal middle of gauge reading.

Any ideas on where to start?

    Matt

Had the exact issue on a buddy's car. Turned out to freyed wires at the sending unit and was just holding on by two wire strands that couldn't supply enough power to the gage. I simply spliced in a new wire to the sending unit.

I had this exact same problem years ago with my non-turbo Daytona. I put a mechanical gauge in, and I've done the same for every car I've owned since then. Even working properly, the stock gauge is worthless.
