    Identify this please!

Found this in my top tool drawer and don't remember why I bought it. I'm guessing it allows you to run a different chip or switch between chips?

Either way I have no use for it so, after I know for sure, it's for sale. Thanks!

I guess if I read the thing it would tell me..... "SBEC 29C256 Adapter - CJG"

So does it allow you to run a different(more available chip)?

That's one of the early chip adapters which allow you to use the more common SST27sf512 in place of the stock SBEC chips.

No. The newer ones are just more compact. I still have one of those and it works fine.

The male socket plugs into your board and the female socket accepts the 27sf512 chip.

There are 2 female sockets and 1 male on that board. It looks as though one is a machine pin and the other is just a standard. I can't quite read what it says under the sockets though.

The male one goes to the board and your 27sf512 goes into the other one.

    Re: Identify this please!

It is indeed a latch adapter. It's the original crude model. Cordes you must have missed what he was asking, there is 2 places to put chips on the top, there's 2 sockets. But if you put a 27sf512 chip in that machine pin socket it wouldn't even work.

I would check to see what Rob L. is selling the newer ones for and go from there. They're on his site.
