    Re: WTB- 655 G head

Hmm, thanks but that head looks pretty fishy.....they say it was surfaced but it looks more like it was just went over with a conditioning disk, and that valve job looks very suspect. Just look at how far the valves are down into the seat, not good! Since I'd be going large valves I'm not worried about the valves, but they may have fubar'd the seats too. I haven't decided if I'm going to go with oversized seats and the extra large valves yet, I might just do that if I pick this head up.

Funny this is that it has a roller cam in it, so that gives it a little extra value. I might just wait until the last minute and bid, if I can get it for 100 shipped that's not a bad deal.

    Thanks

that head has roller followers? wouldnt that head be a slider cam head? Are the correct springs in it now? Lots going on. No pictures of the intake ports or exhaust ports

Yeah that's what I mean, very fishy for sure. I wouldn't count on anything being correct, but honestly I'm only looking for a core head to port/rebuild myself. New guides, springs, locks etc but I was only going to use +1mm valves so the seats still have to be in good shape. That's the only thing that really concerns me about the head.

deck surface looks like it got a go over with a sanding disc in a drill
none of the intake valves are really nice but #1 looks like it's missing a chunk out of the edge at 8 o'clock

front center oil return hole looks like a chunk got taken out of the edge of the hole
looks kinda like it got put down on the oil dip stick bracket that goes to the t stat
if so it might have a nice leaky dent in the surface too

Got one in my garage. It's one of the very first setups. It's even got that setup with pulleys on both ends of the cam. It's unmolested Sliders are all there, no port butchery, it's in top notch condition.
You wouldn't believe how many people think I'm nuts when I tell them a 2.2 head had pulleys on both ends of the crank.
    Check your PMs.

I did not receive a PM, please resend

You can ditch the cam/rockers and everything external on the head to save weight for shipping. I just need the bare head.

Difference is the 665 isn't as good. It's not a huge runner, also... just at the entrance with the expense of having really poor short side radiuses. You need a certain balance of taper and cross sectional area to where it "necks down" for ultimate velocity for the engine's particular needs. I flowtested a stock 655 vs a stock 445 years ago, and posted my results along with cross sectional views of the horrible 90 degree turns on the short side's floor.
