    Quaiffe diff, axle fitment issues

Has anyone had any issues with axles not fitting with their Quaiffe? The issue seems to be very similar to the issues people have with OBX diffs until they massage the splines in the diff or the axles. If you've ran into this how did you go about getting past or fixing the issue?

Here's a play by play of what I tried last night and the issues I encountered.
I went to replace the DS axle last night because a cheapo $49.99 brand new axle was installed a few weeks back at my friend's shop due to a whoopsie involving the torch and tierod jam nut. I don't trust the axle with slicks at the track, which I planned to go to on Friday.

The cheapo axle was a real tight fit; I needed to pry it out of the trans much like a GM FWD circlip axle.

I went to install a shaft out of a later turbo Daytona and it won't even engage the splines in the differential. Compared the splines to the shaft that came out and they are the same. Also verified that the splines were clean of debris, burrs, etc. The trans end of the shaft had gotten a little rusty from sitting in the garage, but it cleaned off nicely with a wire brush; the splines appeared rust free due to the grease/grime that was on them in storage.

Next up was a shaft out of my old TBI Acclaim; which has a much smaller inner joint than the two shafts out of turbo cars in my garage. It was a snug fit but went in ok.

The shaft that was in the car until the alignment was tried next and it slid in just great with no extra effort. Too bad it has a melted boot.

Did you try reclocking it? Try every possible rotation.
