Ford f-150 rotor and pad choices.

First to get started I know it's a ford and its not mine so lets get that out of the way haha. Truck has actually been great to my old man but he has problems with warping the front rotors. The truck is a 2003 f150 4x4. I had issues warping rotors with my jeep and went to napa and they have a high performance line of rotors that are drilled/slotted and more metal than regular also and never looked back and loved them. I'm assuming the place he had working on his truck just kept using cheap rotors and this is the main problem so I'm gonna do the brakes on it this time and was thinking about going to napa for there high performance stuff again but the stuff is expensive to say the least. Almost double what a regular rotor is. Then I got to looking on rock auto and stop tech and a brand called centric also make heavy duty rotors for the truck. Anyone have any input on other brands? He doesn't tow anymore but they head to a campground every weekend that's up over a mountian so that's the main cause of all the heat. Here's a link to the napa stuff. http://m.napaonline.com/parts/PartsL...2%26Ne%3d25000

Re: Ford f-150 rotor and pad choices.

from a pm I got on a f150 site when I asked about pads N rotors
well , just pads - my new o-e ford rotors have done ok the past couple of years

Hi there, I would highly recommend using Carbotech 1521 High Performance Street Pads on your truck.

Here is the link to their website : http://www.ctbrakes.com/

I have been using these pads on all of my vehicles for many years now with great success.
I'm currently running with Xtreme Stop brand HP brake rotors (F&R) on my F150 as well.

You really don't need the drilled and slotted(they are for looks anyway), the thicker rotor is what helped you plus the better alloy it was made from. The better napa rotors should be fine. I personally haven't had issue with the duralast gold rotors. The regular duralast rotors tend to rust faster and warp.
Not trying to sell the autozone stuff, just the point is the cheaper stuff tends to suck.
