I have a Taft S3 I bought years ago sitting in a corner but with the new cams coming out, or come out, IE the F4 or the R5, is the S3 still the shizznit or is it finally being put to pasture? I am building a nice high HP 2.5 8v next year with an HX40.

it's like the mopar s60. It was a good cam for some but no longer available. I will say from my PERSONAL experience, the s3 needed a well ported head, big turbo and good intercooler. Even with that it seemed a little "finicky", some cars it worked awesome but other cars would frustrate you to death getting it to work well. If you have one, may as well try it, you'll only be out time not money if you don't like it.

Taft S3 is still a Great cam! Until a cam is Proven better, the Taft S3 and FWD F4 are my two roller cams of choice(most didn't set it up right though)

Thanks for your input. Depending on time, money and mostly money, would be nice to try a bunch of cams but we'll have to see how that pans out. Definetly going to run/try my S60 cam.

I ran an S3 and it made more horsepower over an 89 T1 cam. I needed better springs and some other valvetrain mods to really get the good out of it though. I had a rocker spitting problem at around 7600 RPM but the cam still felt like it had more HP left in it!
Nice. I saw the lift is only .460" though, thought it was more. My S60 cam has .499", woo hoo.

That could very well be true, lol. My issue was I didn't have an 8 valve to try anything on.
