    Operating temp without heater core.

Just wondering what everyone else's operating temp is with bypassing the heater core in a Daytona. I had to bypass mine due to a leak, plan on fixing it with in the next month. But the temp has gone up a bit, to much for my liking. Should there really be that much of a difference?

    Thanks!

Did you block off the hoses, or keep the hoses and just bypass the core?

I'd be willing to bet you have air in your system. The heater core doesn't provide enough extra cooling to where it should make any significant difference in running temp.

    Operating temp without heater core.

We'll part of my problem is the fan is not turning on. The fusible links look ok a long with the wires. checked the relay out that's ok. Pulled the cts plug fan did not turn on. But I do have code 35. And no voltage at the fan at all. Is there another fusible link somewhere?
    Thanks

And looking at the book could the two plugs coming from the distributer be my problem? The blue wire from the cts is tied into their harness. I know those like to go. I replaced it about a year and a half ago.

I would jump the relay and see if the fan turns on. If u suspect the wiring between the fan and relay u could run 12v right to the fan and see if it turns on.

if you find you have a wireing issue it may well be at the splice from the black fan wire to the big black cable running from the alternator to the battery - they sometimes get very nasty at that splice

You should keep the hoses looped.

A quick check for the fan is disconnect the coolant sensor, if it comes on, probably a coolant sensor issue or its not getting hot enough, 220sih IIRC.

Re: Operating temp without heater core.

Turns out it was the splice. I put a in line fuse in 20amp. Pulled the cts fan turned on then blew the fuse. Turns out the fan is bad and was blowing the fuse. Fixed the higher than normal heat problem. I had a carb omni radiator in it do to space. Someone let be borrow a t2 radiator between that and the fan issue resolved car stays cool now. I did not realize there was that much of a difference between the omni carb and t2 radiator. Is the tube size in the radiator different?
