    Charge air temp sensor diagnosis

    [TABLE="class: postbit_tbl, align: center"][TR][TD="class: alt1"]87 Shelby Charger using 87 GLHS logic.

    I have been having an issue with my charge air sensor recently; it has been tripping code 23 whenever the engine gets heat soaked. When cruising, it will never trip the code and power loss light but often on hot days it will trip in traffic or when I shut the car off when hot and re-start the light will illuminate.
    I just tested the circuit and the results are as follows.

    Unplug pigtail from sensor and have 5 volts.
    Use a jumper wire on pos to neg on pigtail and get 0 volts

    Plug pigtail into sensor and back probing the pigtail, key on and got 2.97 volts
    Start car and voltage slowly drops down but never saw less than 1.06 volts before the coolant fan started. (Scheduled to start @180 degrees)

    Continued to let the car run and just as the coolant fan came on for the second time, shut the car off, and closed the hood to heat soak engine. Let sit for three minutes and restarted car and power loss light was illuminated.
    Checked voltage at pigtail while plugged into sensor and have 5 volts.
    Jumped pos and neg and get 0 volts.

    Turned off car and let cool for a few minutes, re-started car and had 1.06 volts, power loss light off. Continued to let car run for another minute, power loss light illuminated and had 5 volts again at pigtail, plugged into sensor.

    I never saw less than 1.06 volts before it jumped to 5 volts and power loss light came on.

    Would this indicate a bad sensor or could there be something else?

    I have tried another sensor which I am unsure of its condition and power loss light would come on under the same conditions.

    Thank you

    Sounds like a temp based wiring open circuit fault.

    I'd check the lm connectors

    If you could expand on that it would be great. I'm not super great with electronics but I do and can follow instruction and or test procedure.
