Agreed, reassembling the HI/LOW beam selector rod can be frustrating, I remember that clearly!

can you put a tilt column in an omni?
It's not a direct install by any stretch of the imagination. IIRC the way that Alan did it was to have the two columns welded together. The Omnis don't have a standard Saginaw column. The Omni column has no collapsing feature like the saginaw ones do, which is the reason for the Salad Bowl steering wheel in them.
If you're looking for more leg room in an omni I recommend installing charger seat tracks to drop the seat by a little over 1.5". Then install a smaller steering wheel (you'll lose the collapsing feature of course). I can't even drive an omni with the arm rest attached so that's always my first move.
