Does anyone know the history of the white fiberrides? I know the birthday car had them. I worked on a CSX that had white ones as well. They were legit white and not painted.

I think at one time you could buy them through mopar performance. I had an 87 csx that came in with a set recently and it was apparently that these were white from the get go, and not the gold painted over... The owner said he bought them from his dealer back years ago

one of the other prototype cars also had them
One of the fiberides on the birthday car is a repainted gold wheel. I know because I provided it to Neil not long before the grand opening in Vegas.

If you wanted to know the story about the wheels you could have asked me. That is my car. They are actually 4 of the 10 white fiber rides built. I am in the process of writing an article for the SDAC newsletter telling the story.

Both cars are doing great. We are both hoping to make it to the SDAC convention as well as Carlisle this year. We will see how it plays out.
As for the white rides, That would be super rare if you have a factory set. The source for mine came straight from Cali. I would be curious to see your set with the part number for ordering. My source is a good one and says they were never sold in white but were available in gold.
Your source is a good one? please share

For many years in the 90's (maybe before) Lynn was the editor of the MWSDAC newsletter. MWSDAC is an independent club based in Kansas. IIRC, at one time Lynn was a salesman at a Dodge/Shelby dealer, and sold Whittier cars when they were new. He's been around awhile.

That is awesome information. Lynn might be a great source as a salesman do you recall the rides being sold in white?
i would love to know if there is a deeper story to the white rides. Any chance of getting a picture copy of the part book?
we have a local Mopar guru who we call for part numbers. the problem is when you go to look it up it only comes up with the gold fiber rides because the part number is off of the 1989 CSX. we had him run the other part number and it doesn't come up with anything because they have been discontinued for so long. since they were never actually issued to any car we have not been able to find them in a parts book.
You will see that there is no part number because they were never available from Shelby. The ones on my car were shipped straight from California by the Shelby National Performance Parts Manager, who is my source. They were produced for the 90 csx that was never made. I think I might have a picture of the prototype car but then again if I say too much there won't be much left for up front.
