If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is!
The auto parts store replacement axles I used for 2 weeks all broke in the same spot. They all sheared right behind the tripod in the outside CV joint. I swapped to new axles because I had twisted the inside splined nub off my Saginaw drivers side axle. The drivers side new replacement broke the next week (at the Wednesday drags). Warranty replaced that axle (shaft was noticeably thicker, different run maybe?) and the passenger side broke the week after (at the drags again). Pulled the new axles and had the drivers side saginaw rebuilt. no problems since.
