smec cal mechanical spark advance question

So I was running through my cal and I found a setting that may be off, but I'm not sure.

If you follow these tabs in MpTune

Idle > special setup > Constant Spark advance when setting mechanical basic timing

Mine is set to 6 degrees, and every cal I looked at is also set to 6 degrees. But in the table description it says that stock is 12 degrees. I'm curious if I need to bump that up to 12 degrees or just leave it alone.

Also in the same special setup tab there is the table "open loop enrich factor when setting basic timing"
Mine was set to 55 and the van always just billows black smoke. Is there any reason I can't just pull the enrichment factor down to the mid 20's, or even just to a zero reading?

    Thanks
    Joe

That 6 degrees is crankshaft, which translates to 12* on the spark timing, or at least so I remember. Not sure why it is that way.

Joe there was a default coolant temperature that was set too low in my cal.
I had a problem keeping Slug running when trying to set initial timing. With temp sensor unplugged it would stumble and run rich.
You might check that, and make sure its set to around normal temp 195-200F.

Rob thank you, at least I know it's normal.

Wayne, do you happen to remember where you found that table?

Re: smec cal mechanical spark advance question

    Joe it was under /Utility/On-BoardDiagnostics/DefaultEngineTemp
On my cal it had a value of 149F in there. On Rob's adice it was set to 200F
