    Column interchange HELP!

I'm trying to put an 89 Daytona tilt column into my 89 CSX. It seems like the front bracket to hold the column up isn't long enough on the Daytona column to reach up to the Shadow mounting point. Is there a difference between columns? I thought they were all the same because I have pulled out a few of them and mixed and matched over the years. I could have gotten lucky though I guess.

Putting the original column back in the car is not an option so I hope that I can make something work very soon.

There not the same, even on the K based cars.

Thank you for confirming that. This is not a good revelation though. I'm thinking that I could make a coupler that attaches to the stock upper mounting bolts and then use those studs with some nuts and washers to hang the column where it needs to be.

When would you be free to make an exchange? I really need one to get CSX 42 up there for SDAC.

hmm, working today and tomorrow off Thur-Fri, but going nuts trying to get SDAC stuff together. Easiest would be for me to bring it to SDAC, but if you need it earlier I could run and get it tonight and bring to work tomorrow (Barrington, IL), still that's 200 miles away. Are you driving up on Friday or Saturday?

The one I've got has Red covers if it matters, came from a red 89 Shadow ES.

what's wrong with the original one ? and if it's fubar could you not use the daytona one for parts to fix it ?

if the issue is not being able to get the locking plate under the wheel off due to a lack of the tool you can make a tool for that out of a spare 2.2 t stat houseing

The original is no longer functional at all. I have all the tools I just need the correct column now.
