Description: Very rare a588 transmission. This is the info I got from Ed Peters:
These were prototypes for the srt-4 t-850's, and they have the good getrag gears and 4 pinion diff. They will fit the 2.2/2.5 cars and the late model 2.4's. He said they only made 4 of these...... This trans is new, never used and comes in it's own special shipping crate

It looks like it has the boss for the TIII crank sensor drilled out. Can it's position be confirmed?

5 Speed
Getrag gears , don't know specifics on individual gears other than final drive is a 4.08
17 spline same as both the srt-4 and late 2.2/2.5's
case drilled for t-3 crank sensor
according to Ed "this one is better than the t-850!"

Even if that were possible I'm not so sure it would do most people any good simply because if it breaks or wears out parts will be non-existent more than likely.

Having said that it IS cool as h3ll and if I had the money it would be on its way to me!

I'm gonna bump this thread into oblivion. This is one of those parts where even if I could afford it, I don't know if I could bring myself to use it. Not because of parts availability, but because it's practically a museum piece, even if only to this community.

Oh man...get those fish tank guys to build a tank that goes around it (the tranny would not be wet) with a glass top with the "infinity" lid so there are no bubbles! That would be SICK!!

yeah , no - actually a serious question as I know where to scoop a low mileage shelby charger at a pretty fair price
this trans would make more sence than rebuilding something that's always gonna be pre-used for a number of reasons

so , if it uses a 555 "4 pinion" diff , is there anything different about it that would keep me from being able to use the Quafie?

= like are the diff bearings the same?
is there going to be some other difference to account for the 408 gear?
etc ..

The a555/a568 quaife would work with this trans....
