Why the hate on the NVGT-850? I realize that I needed to swap my clutch to an HDSS ACT STG2 after putting the e1 in and making real power, but I have no 3rd gear issue. The shifts are smooth and exact, it sits at 3k when doing 80mph and allows me to get 38+mpg when doing 70-75 on my long trips. The 1st gear is somewhat useless for how short it is, but i'm at 162k and I love the trans.
I found this thread because I typed in "NVGT-850 bolt up to 2.2 turbo" What is all around better about these unicorn prototypes? Were these the one's that were designed with the 2002 2.0 S/C neon SRT?
These trannies were used behind the European export minivans.
