what clutch cable!! L body with 92 523

i used a 92 daytona clutch cable and it felt stupid loose i made a spacer between the cable where it mounts to the trans. to shorten it up
the spacer is maybe a 1/2 inch big. i know these are self adjusting and i never really knew exactly how to do it it always just happens to adjust.

so do i remove the spacer and will it adjust right or do i need a different vehicles cable??

its 1 week to sdac and i need to be able to disengauge the clutch!!!

    thank you guys!

    John,
Pretty sure I always used the L-body clutch cable. I know some people alter the clutch arm splines to re-clock the lever. While others use other tranny levers, and others shim up the cable at the ball. I have also shimmed up cables like you did on the upper part of. Some even extend the length of lever to provide a better fulcrum. I guess there is more than one way fix this. IIRC, the 520/555 cables are a bit shorter.
I don't think the self adjuster is going to take up that much slack. The good thing is these cables are super easy to change. See you at SDAC!

well i decided to go out and look at it again, my spacer is too short so i will either extend my spacer or swap to the clutch arm off my old 520 and cable i ran
with that, we will see what i have time for or if im doing this Friday in the hotel parking lot
thanks for the advise and help!

L body clutch cable worked fine in my 85 GLH with 90 A568 and 88/87 A555.

92 cable will be super long for the re-clocked clutch arm. I ran into this with my van, I used a 92 shadow 523 transmission which has the clocked arm. I had to swap the arm since the longer cable was never installed in the vans. the notch that prevents you from moving your current clutch arm is just a flattened spline, some work with a hacksaw blade makes the arm fit wherever you want.

Once you pull the arm off, look inside the splines area. There will be one spline that is blocked off on one end, this spline keys into the wide slot on the shaft. Just take a hacksaw blade and clean out the metal in the spline.

i had the middle length cable in my lancer and figured it all out. no need for a hacksaw, hell no need for any tools at all
so there u have it, to put a later 523 into a l body you need the 555,520 cable.
