Got my goodies in today!
Need to get the spindles powdercoated, but this will get installed by the end of the year. Can't wait to see how the car handles after the changes.

It'll be night and day I'm sure. I love those rears. I need some of those in the worst way.
I'd check with Rich and see what can be done. He mentioned there may be need for adjustment to get them to work, but I'll do my best to record the process and will for sure make note of any modifications, if needed.Originally Posted by cordes

Looks slick. Are the lower mounts of the rear shocks spherical bearings?
They are not spherical bearings, just a bushing and sleeve. Rich also sent inserts for the sleeves, assuming that the bolts may be smaller than the holes for the lower rear mounts that you're asking about. The upper diameter mounts seems to be the same as the inserts.

Just got the spindles back, ready to go on! Getting close to completing the upgrade. Also got the tires installed and they look really good on the car. I'll post some pics once the suspension is installed and the car washed. Powdercoating was $50, about par for what I've paid with this guy. I think he does great work, personally.

haha, well sorta. I'm going to do it this weekend I think when Cordes and his wife come down for a few days. We may or may not get it done then. And it was Rick's, probably the only place I would ever take stuff. He was the first in town and he's always done a great job and his prices are good.
I WAS going home quick because I wanted to work on this.
The carpet was really hard to remove. Some of it came off easy, the majority of it did not. After an hour or two of getting it stripped, it got down to this. I am very seriously contemplating whether or not to use some glass resin and reinforce the areas that look a little damaged and overall, add some strength to it.

You should make one out of CF.
If I get a spare one that I can use as a template, I will. Overall I think it would be a neat novelty and a good way to get accustomed to working with CF. Once the carpet is on this one, CF won't have much value, well maybe a pound or two difference. This isn't light, but it's not heavy. I'll weigh it and see how much it is.

haha, thanks Ken. I figured I'd take a few shots of this, not in a huge rush and I took extra time with it in general.
Here is the finished product. It looks great before I wrap it around the bottom, not the best but still better than before after. Many corners and I'm not too versed on how to deal with those. Overall I think it turned out good. I don't think the factory one was much better.

What are those rear shocks from? I know in the past Rich did not have rear shocks that would work, are these a new part? Curious for when my Daytona goes full coilover.Got my goodies in today!

I think the kit is from the SRT4, but I could be wrong. The paperwork and some stickers on the hardware said that, but I pulled that stuff off when I got everything and didn't really think about it. We had to cut down the rear guide pins for the top. I'm sure there is hardware they sell that can be fit to work with ours as a direct fit, but maybe not. I haven't talked to Rich since I got my stuff and installed, but here are some pictures of what we had to do and the difference can be seen with what you see in the pictures above. The width for the stock piece, which includes the pin at the top is 41mm. We got these cut down to 40.98mm. I was a little disappointed in my accuracy, but somehow I will live with it. We did this with a hack saw, btw.
Cordes has all the raw photos and video, did a great job and was EXTREMELY helpful this weekend to get this done. Once we had everything on, we weren't going to take it for a spin, but I think after talking we decided to. Man, I am glad we did. We found that the front passenger sides piston was locking up on release of the brakes and we ended up dragging the brake up and down the street, unbeknownst to us. Turns out there was some rust in the cylinder for the piston, which was just enough for it to prevent it from sliding back after pedal release. Used crude methods of 220/400/1000 sandpaper to knock it down and get it smooth enough. Dropped the piston back in and it moved fairly easily in the cylinder. We put it back together and it drove fine. The brakes are larger and I think there is either still some air in the lines, which I doubt, or probably closer to the fact that the master cylinder isn't large enough to manage the added front brakes along with the rears. The brakes work and aren't horrible, but I won't be driving fast with this car anytime soon.
Cordes and I talked about the Wilwood billet unit someone mentioned on this forum, so may just get that if they have one that 1) works and 2) isn't crazy expensive. Pics of the installation and progress to come when Cordes gets home and situated. They are on their way back, so maybe before the new year he will have an opportunity to get some posted. He took a LOT of video and shot all the images in RAW format, so we're talking crazy megapixel/MB size and he will have to scale them down just to get them uploaded.

Here are some teaser pics with my phone camera, Cordes will have to post his high quality ones along with video.
Front, rear and the rear adjuster. The car needs to be up to get to the adjusters for the rear, but I plan to keep them on either 25%-50% unless 50% is too stiff. Full soft is a great factory feel ride, so I'll probably stiffen them just a tad.

Car looks great! I am looking forward to the write up. This is high on my list of next year's projects. Stock suspension is getting tired, replaced the rear shocks, but it still needs more help. Glad to see there should be a complete BC coilover kit available in the future for my G-Body.
