Interesting! What keeps the rack connected to the steering column? I didn't bother to look under the boot, assumed it was the same. I should look at my service manuals.

Its a sort of springy clip thing that slides in with the steering column piece that goes in the rack. It makes sense when you see it.

Cool, thanks again for the info.
Will be working on finishing the tie rods and exhaust tomorrow and get it started, hopefully. I had an issue with it running richer than it should, so hoping the O2 is the issue. If not, I'll have to look at the injectors or pull the codes to see if the computer is throwing any.

Well the car got an alignment after installing the tie rods, but back when we did the brakes and front suspension in January, the brakes never felt good and seemed spongy. Drove the car for a while and the more I drove it, the worse the brakes got. Eventually I got the GLHS running and parked the Lancer. Assuming it was the MC, I bought a master cylinder about 2 months ago, FINALLY got it on last week and man that was probably one of THE easiest things I have done on a car. For some reason I thought it was going to be tedious, but aside from bleeding the brakes, it took me about 30 minutes total with disassembly and reassembly. Turns out the old one had a seal leak where it bolts up and was "bleeding" on the brake booster, but wasn't visible so I never saw it. Only real issue now with this car is the radio, everything else is great. I mean, it could use some .91 transfer gears for highway driving, but the 3" exhaust sounds great and the car has really good acceleration. The computer is chipped, so I may get a tune for it and maybe flash the 87 CSX stage II tune.....or get help doing it. I'll have to compare the Ostrich 2.0 to a flasher and see if it's worth it. I have an Ostich 2.0 and a BT adapter for the GLHS, so I can flash it wirelessly now, which may be the way to go with the Lancer.
