do they make non-tinted ones? I really hate tinted ones for night driving
Thanks Joe! Should have them completed this weekend, well I hope.
Jealous much!
They have a part number for clear ones. I would suggest you make your own if you have the capacity to. They need trimming and adjustment to fit correctly, so I wouldn't expect them to fit out of the box. The clips to hold them on, there is no way you can use them to work and hold them on securely. Too many things to correct, might as well just make some to fit. It will cost a little less in materials, more in time but in the end you'll be spending time making them fit so might as well cut out the middle man.

Ok, got ONE bracket made. Only took a few hours to get it right. I now have the other three molds cut out, just need to trim them down and do the folds. Looks ok for now, may look at getting some made later in aluminum or plastic (3D printer), but a one piece aluminum one would be better. Don't know if someone can take a "model" and cut a one piece with a water jet or not, but I'll check it out later.

This calls for some carbon fiber!
Got the windows tinted, think it looks better. I'll post pics if the interface ever gets fixed.

John,
Trivia question ? What was first car to have a CD player ?
Answer : 1987 Shelby Lancer
Hope you enjoy your SL !! I own SL #356.
Jim
I've seen pictures of your tint Jon, it looks great! I love the look of the tint, but personally don't like it on my cars as I have bad eyes and terrible night vision.

Yeah, it's frustrating. I am confident it's being addressed, but it is frustrating when you have a few or more than a few photos to post. Uploading a few to the gallery is not bad, but if you have 5 or 10, that's just too much time spent.
Jihm,
Yeah Alan schooled me on the car when I got it. He was pretty pummed about it for me and gave me some of the run down. I'm constantly throwing that factoid out there.
Is yours a 5 speed or auto? My goal is to have this one pretty much stock and then a 5 speed that looks like the guy Mike from Canada who has the SUPER clean white one.
heh Thanks Stephen! I will admit, at night it can be a bit daunting to drive with the dark tint, but man it looks so good viewing the car as you leave or approach it.

Best reason for tint on an old car is it preserves interiors. I'd rather have to peel shitty old tint off a 1987 than deal with a car that never had tint and everything exposed to direct sunlight is faded or even crumbling.
Dont push the red button. You hear me?
Nice story. Props to Alan for being such a cool guy to members of the community.
Agreed on the tinting. I don't tint the windows on my car because I want to be all private, it keeps them cooler and the plastics their normal color/brittleness.
Updating a few things.
- Paint - ok shape, but definitely needs to be redone
- Align the headlights better
- Install headlight covers - Got them from GTS, but they need some attention to fit properly - Got some spare headlight bezels that I plan to use to make my headlight cover brackets
- Window trim for the windshield needs to be replaced
- Trim for rear window needs to be replaced/fixed
- Shelby windshield decal needs to be replaced
- Clean stains in the carpet - overall it's clean but definitely needs attention
- Plug up door lock switch on driver's door
- Replace broken rear passenger door handle bezel
- Replace under steering column piece (two of four tabs broken)
- Re-upholster headliner and traveler and visors
- Tint the windows
- Replace driver's side ground effect
- Fix center console catch (broken)
- Get center cap (spoke to Dave about this) - Dave delivered! Have a spare center medallion that I'm going to look to get refurbished.
- Find rear travel tray - Dave delivered this one too! Needs to be recovered though, going to find some replacement carpet
- Replace rear hatch trim pieces (wrong color and mounts are broken)
- Replace various exterior window trim (where available)
- Re-wrap wiring harness
- Fix charge temp sensor wiring
- Replace motor mounts
- Replace oil pan seal
Had to take care of the oil sending line to the turbo. Changed the oil one day, everything seemed fine. Drove it for a bit and noticed the smell of burning oil, just figured I got some oil somewhere that hit the exhaust or something. As I was driving at night and the lights behind me showed I was creating a huge smoke trail. Got home and checked under the car, TONS of oil. Parked it for a couple weeks, finally got to it and eventually found the rubber part of the hose was completely separated. I think the car had been leaking oil for a while from here. Going to get it completely cleaned up and monitor it to see if this fixes the oil leak. It's definitely less than it was.
Next plans for it are going to order the BC coil-overs and some new tires. I'd love to get these wheels from Enkei that are basically the same style just available in 16" (instead of the stock 15"), but I don't think they are available yet.

Got the 3" exhaust the other day. Got a great deal on the SW, downpipe, the whole thing end to end from Chris Still. Everything hopefully will be bolt on/up, well at least over the axle and muffler. One day I'll post pics.

What kind of cat/muffler, if any?
Dont push the red button. You hear me?
It's a 3" in/out Magnaflow. Cats are for commies.

Quick update. Got some parts in over the last month and just recently. Plans will be to do the following:
- Upgrade the exhaust to 3", swingvalve all the way back to the muffler
- Install dual pivot K frame and sway bar
- New tie rod ends
- BC Coil-over suspension from Rich Bryant
It may get a little louder (who am I kidding, it will), but the flow will be nice and it's always nice to hear the turbo more. I would like to do a rack swap while I'm pulling all this stuff out, but I don't have the money right now with the other things that are going on and I need tires as well, just not in the budget. Additional plans will be to upgrade the engine mounts soon, but I MAY be pulling the motor out by next summer, may just wait to do all that then. If I get that far, I'll probably do some maintenance on the trans by changing out the transfer gears so I can get some better RPMs on the road. My knowledge of autos is virtually nil, so if there are torque converter options that make sense to do while it's out, I'll hopefully make those changes as well at that time. And now, the pics. Just a couple, but it's always nice to see pretty pics of parts.
