Trying to find new Mopar battery for Omni GLH

I tried to go to the Chrysler dealership parts counter today to get a new Mopar battery for my Omni GLH. They couldn't seem to find the right one and weren't even sure of the Group size. They say their books just don't go that far back.

I'm trying to find one so it looks as stock as possible under the hood. Anybody know where to get one? Size or part number?

Pretty sure it's a group size 26, don't let them give you the 26R as the posts are reversed and the cables may not reach. The new Mopar batteries don't really look like the originals so what I usually do is just go with a parts store battery that has an all black case and remove the decals.

I'd agree with that. Also it's not like Chrysler has a battery plant somewhere, so if "Mopar Quality" is your concern, the only thing on there that's Mopar is the sticker. You can usually find an as-good or better quality battery with a better warranty at your local parts store.

I believe interstate makes mopar batteries.

Poser alert: I have to admit I want the Mopar battery for underhood appearance. I DID buy one today, at the tune of $143 with tax. It is a Group 23R, and the posts are backwards, but it fits my stock battery tray perfectly. The fact that the posts are backwards really doesn't bother me too much because I am making all new battery/starter/subharnesses for the car anyway so everything will fit in the end and not be noticed at all by anybody unless I brought the car to SDAC.

What can I say, I'm happy. I have a vision for this car and I won't settle for anything less. I probably could have spent 1/2 as much at NAPA but it just wouldn't jive with my vision. Thanks for the info all.

No, that's about what I spent at Napa on the battery for my Daytona.

I had a Mopar Battery in my Shadow for a few years for the same reason, price-wise they weren't far off from the parts stores. I only got 3-4 years from it and switched to a generic when I replaced it primarily because it failed at a time that the dealer wasn't open.

my original turismo battery also had GM's delco eye on it

I guess we missed the boat not takeing pics of the o-e labels as stickers aren't hard to get printed - if you have something to copy
