I had a '92 Iroc RT that had the same bolts in them. They essentially bolted the floorpan down to the ears of the frame rails in the driver and passenger footwell.

this recall was not for just Daytona, but pretty much all the K-based cars
why not weld while it's all apart and ditch the bolts? only reason they (dealer) bolted them was cost - cheaper/ faster/ easier to drill a hole and use a mechincal fastener than to gut the interior, strip paint, and spot weld.
Wow - I just realized that I never updated this thread. I got the car mostly together and registered last year. I still have to do some buffing and final polishing on the paint and detail everything up, but the car is about 90% there. It's tucked away in the garage for the winter, but I plan on hopefully finishing up the restore early Spring.
Here's a before and after of the headliner/overhead console:
I posted pics of the floor before. Here's a couple afters:
Original carpet cleaned up pretty nicely. I spent about an hour power washing it to get all the nastiness out!
Headliner installed:
More interior shots:
Here's a shot of on it's maiden commuter voyage last October:
54 miles round trip and no problems. It was not detailed in any way, so it looks pretty unimpressive in this pic...LOL! I'll be sure to post final pics after I detail it this Spring.
I put a little over a hundred miles on it before I put it away for the winter. The only items that seem to need attention are the alignment, the airbag light is on, and the fuel level sensor is really slow to react.
So the list of things left to do looks like:
- fix airbag sensor problem
- fix/replace in tank fuel level sensor
- final paint detailing
- final engine detailing
- Re-cover or find replacement steering wheel
- get wheel alignment
- misc other minor items
Not too bad. Maybe a couple nice weekends in April/May and this one should be done!
JB you sure do good work and write-ups! That rear diff replacement in the SRT6 is legendary on those forums.... You did make one misstatement here tho, you said April/May it would be done?? It's a turbo Mopar, they're *never* done

I said "should" be done - implying the restoration should be done, but of course it won't be because they're never done! It's a turbo Mopar, they're *never* done
Thanks Gary. It seems to run and drive fine, so you'll probably see it at some meets this year, or at the bbq at a minimum! You saw this one sitting in pieces in the back of my garage before the resto, right? I think you'll really appreciate it if you did! I can't wait for Kelly to see it. He told me I should put a bullet in it...LOL!
That is beautiful!!
I figured since I pulled this car out of storage this weekend and took it for a nice long ride, and then took it to it's last emissions test (here in CT they don't require emissions on cars 25 years or older), that I should post an update in this thread.
I finished all of the things on the list a few posts above, and the car runs and drives really nice. Of course, as Alan mentioned (wonder what happened to that guy anyway?), they're never done, so I have a new, but small list of things to do (fix drivers side power window, final detailing to engine compartment and final polish/buff). Not too bad of a list, but it's going back into the garage for winter now. Maybe next year I'll do a photo shoot of the car and provide one more update to this thread.
I put almost 500 miles on it this year - that's probably a record for me for mileage put on one of my tm's in a year since I stopped daily driving them 10-12 years ago!
