I'd recommend a 3 or 5 series aluminum. 2 and 7 series not really very weldable and 2024 should not be welded, 6 is ok but a 3 and 5 would be better.
In that case, I could easily grab a section from McMaster or something. The only 5 series I have is 5052 and it's all sheetmetal.
Any takers? I'm trying to make this as easy as I can for whoever wants to step up to the plate.
