i pulled this other from a 92 turbo swapped daytona. owner said it was a 2.5 turbo. it is a non commonblock and the numbers on the back of the block are 10 15 87. i guess thats the date?

If the block was an 87 it should be a 2.2, could be TII or not. Its doubtful someone would throw a 2.5L in that, they dont like boost much.
have a look at the top part of the timeing belt cover
- might have to pull it off
I seem to remember the timeing cover haveing referance to 2.2 and 2.5 - with part numbers I think
I think the tall block got it's own timeing cover - maybe
it's what I figured years ago when I saw that on the timeing covers
Has a T1 1 piece blow through intake, mitsu turbo with a 2.25 swingvalve. Owner said it was a 2.5. Felt like a 2.5 driving
Tom there is another set of casting #'s to the left of the casting date. Also is usually stamped on left drivers side of deck on block right below cylinder head and above bellhousing. Aside from being a TD 2.5, if it has the fuel pump cutout, it is almost for sure a 2.2 unless it is a hodge podge of motors. Clearance notches would have had to be done to bottom other cylinders to fit a 2.5 crank in an early block. Mods to end of crank snout too to fit early crank seal housings. If you really need to know, pull pan and check crank.

I guess il turn it over and lool for the numbers on the opposite side. It definately seems like a hodge podge
That date would probably be on an 88 model year 2.2 engine, which would have the 2.25 mitsu and a one piece like you described. 88's were the only non common-block engines with a 5 bolt crank pulley, that's one way to ID it.

As I remember the tall blocks had a thicker casting nub at the left rear top corner of the block than 2.2 non common blocks to make for fast I.D.

There is no logical reason to call an Engine a motor.

@ glhs 875 - the 2.5 L tall block, which would be the only available 2.5 in 87, has ridiculously thin rods, so its highly unlikely that the "92 2.5" the guy said was in it, is in it. With a block date code of 87, there is a very slim chance it could be a 2.5. That is what I meant.
Here is a picture of a tall deck engine, if you look closely you can see the bigger casting nub on the left rear top corner of the block. 2.2 blocks were shorter here.
Thanks
