    88 Chrysler New Yorker

So after planning on doing some sort of a build on my 87 New Yorker, I found a low mileage, rust free 88 New Yorker with a bad head gasket. The car had 67k miles on it and was owned by an elderly man. It was originally from Idaho. After putting a head gasket in the 2.2 T1 and driving it for a while and deciding it wasn't enough power, my brother and I freshened up a 2.5 and intercooled it.

    Old 67k mile 2.2 out.

    Freshened 2.5 in.

After driving it for a while last fall and parking it for the winter I brought this home for it:

It's an 05 PT Turbo engine. Here it is being mocked up in my 89 Daytona parts car.

Nice Subscribed. I have a PT motor I was going to put in my 87 Yorker. How was the 2.5 in it? I went with a 2.2 8v as I had it lying around and seems to be ok power wise.

The 2.5 is still currently in it and after the snow melts I will drive it as is until the 2.4 is ready to go in. With the auto it is fine, but is a thirsty one. It's currently at 15 lbs of boost on the stock engine with a garret turbo.

My brother and I went to Upull today and picked up an alternator, ac compressor, power steering reservoir, and some other things for it. I will be running accessories out of a mid 2000's Stratus since they are located fairly close to stock location. I also bought a GT3076R turbo off of ebay, can't wait for that to show up.

Are you expecting to get it finished for SDAC-24? Are you going? I'm not sure myself. I'd have to take all the days of for vac since I work weekends. Not sure if I want to do that. It is close enough to just do a couple.

I would like to have it done for Mopars in the Park, but if not, it should be done before SDAC. I believe we are both going to SDAC since it is fairly close. I would love to bring both the New Yorker and my GLH, but we will see. I know Jason wants to bring his hybrid Sundance and possible his Omni and SRT4.

Hybrid Sundance? My old car? I'd like to bring a couple myself, but would have a bit of trouble getting them there by myself.

Yeah Bob, your old Sundance has a hybrid engine in it. Here is the engine before it went in the car.

So my brother took the accessories we got yesterday and put them on the engine. Here are a few pics of the process.

My distributor, wires, and a few other things came yesterday. My turbo should be here on Wednesday. Should be able to finish up mocking things up soon.

So I got the car out of storage yesterday so I can wash it and get it ready for boost for boobies on Saturday. Also mocked up the distributor on the engine. My turbo finally came as well.

    Re: 88 Chrysler New Yorker

I got a little more work done on the New Yorker over the weekend. Got the turbo mocked up to make sure it would clear the firewall and then pulled the engine so I could start painting some of the parts.

We got a little more work done on the New Yorker this weekend. We got the old engine out and got the new one bolted in with a mock up trans.

There is still more than enough to do. Still need to do wiring, exhaust, intercooler and piping, a/c, install shifter and cables, figure out the throttle body, tune, and much more.

    Re: 88 Chrysler New Yorker

So my brother and I got a little more completed on the New Yorker in the last few weekends.

He modified a 58mm throttle body to work on the SRT intake:

Got the wiring on the front of the engine completed with the 06 Stratus accessories:

Finished up on the oil and coolant lines on the back of the block:

Installed the clutch and the machined flywheel along with the 523 trans:

    Things coming together:

TD power steering pump with Stratus bracket and pulley:

    Clutch peddle in:

Getting ready to mock in the shifter and do some cleaning:
