Well I took the New Yorker to the track again today and ended up breaking an axel on my first launch.
---- happens. As long as it's not broke off below flush in the diff, then not such a bad deal.
Dont push the red button. You hear me?
Bummer! Was that a stock axle or something made for your application? Just curious.

It was a stock axel. The car has a 523 trans so any of the standard axes work. It was the outer CV joint that broke so at least it is an easy fix and I don't have to pound anything out of the diff. Since the car was undrivable today, I drove my truck to work and got rear ended on the way in.
Sounds like the New Yorker dodged a bullet since nobody REALLY fixes body damage on these things. It probably would have killed the project.

So it's been a while since I updated this thread, but this spring I finally upgraded the suspension to eibach springs (from Cindy's group buy) and Formula GP shocks and struts. I also upgraded the brakes to 4 wheel vented 11" brakes.
The height difference between the eibachs and the stock New Yorker springs is crazy.
So it turns out that the baring surface was machined too large on one side of the OBX. So after a few hours of sanding it down and putting the baring on, the axel slides right in.
New struts, shocks, wheel barings, and 11" brakes.
Rear springs and shocks in. I ended up changing out the bushings for new ones. I forgot to take a pic with the rear vented disks.

resting spring heights are a lot different because the new yorker stock springs are soft, so they need a lot of height to hold the car up. What we need is a before and after pic with the car on the ground. I'd also like to see a-arm alignment with the car on the ground.
You beat me to it! I'm doing something very similar to this on my NYer this summer.
So it's been a while since I have updated this. In September of 2015 I brought my car to be dyno tuned and ended up needing a rebuild after. The stock turbo dodge fuel rail wasn't flowing enough fuel to the 1000cc injectors. So when taking some fuel out of the tune since it was so rich, it melted 2 pistons and cracked a 3rd.
This was the run right before it went boom. The timing was decreased while working on fueling. This run, was still 1 degree lower than what I went in with.
Carnage pics.
Honed out the cylinders and put some used pistons and rods back in.
Picked up a full blown fuel rail for it.
Had the head cleaned, resurfaced and did a valve job.
This spring I put an adjustable fuel pressure regulator on it with smaller injectors.
Just a random drag racing pic.
Had it at the track last fall, but had issues with intercooler hoses blowing off. Wasn't able to beat my fastest run of 13.1@103.

Thanks for the update! Cool project.

That's one heck of a sleeper. I love it! Reminds me of an article back in the 80's about Shelby.
He had a New Yorker and would slouch forward in the car at a stop light and roast who ever would
try to race him.
I took the New Yorker in for dyno tuning today.
