    Custom intake.

Does anyone on the forums or are venders sell a full custom intake for the 8v? The two piece intakes are getting harder to find and till you get one ported then powdercoated your right near 500 dollars. I like the sheet metal top to the two piece intake that's being sold but am entertaining the idea of cutting a 1 piece apart and using the runners to make a custom setup or buying something already made. Thoughts or opinions?

I'm in the process of making an actual full custom intake. But mine is being built with a Daytona in mind. Sooo that might limit applications it can go in...

Jeff Mass (and a few others I'm sure) cut the back side out of a stock one-piece to give it some plenum volume and welded on a neck from a 3.3 or 3.8(?) V6. His car flows enough that he had to step up to the 72pph injectors because the 52pph ones ran out of fuel.

By the time you do all the work to the single piece to bring it up to Hogged out two piece numbers, you could of bought a two piece (time, money, skill)By the time you put the money into a two piece to make it crazy, youre into it anywhere from 650-700 bucks (intake -200, porting -100, lengel BP topper -350)And by the time you make a SMI, you will have as much money and time involved as either of these other two options. Unless you have a lot of 6061 laying around, and a bridgeport to mill the flanges out of, and a suitable TIG+ skills to weld the piece. Its all relative. Acannel has been working on a custom intake for over a year and still isnt done. I think if I had the resources I'd make a custom one, just so everyone had the "third" option.

here's one we sell. It's a 2 piece fully ported lower with a ALM upper piece. Price is $550 and if you want the billet fuel rail shown it would be $650 (FPR not included)

And still I'd have to find a two piece lower to add to that price. I get welding done for almost nothing and can fab it up mostly by myself. Would be nice to buy something that has been dyno tuned and proven. I don't however have the knowledge or theory on building one.

My issue with that is two piece intakes are going to get very hard to find very soon. They only used them for 1 1/2 years.

The two piece makes plenty of power I like building things I'd like to start getting the skills so that I can build some headers and an intake for a future project. I have an extra 1 piece is it as simple as cutting the intake apart and adding a plenum and an elbow? Would like more info from those who have made there own.

That thing looks like it would flow like a mother. Still entertaining the idea of cutting and using the bottom half of the 1 piece and building the upper plenum. I'm sure I can build one for way less.

If you're into making stuff check out boostgeeks modified 1 piece. Shadow and speedfreek500 also run modified 1 piece intakes and all have had excellent results.

    Thanks

There is no logical reason to call an Engine a motor.

I have a one-piece that we cut the back out of on a milling machine. It would need to be smoothed out and welded back up. Let me know if you are interested.

I have an extra one piece here I might cut apart. Is the elbow off a 3.3?

Mine still has the original elbow. I'd just use an piece of aluminum heavy wall to make the bend if you need one. I never bothered putting an elbow on the manifold I ended up using.

From looking at the pictures from what I can tell the main problem is all the restrictions inside. But while its apart figured if I'm goin that far and the 3.3 elbow is bigger and already has the flange it seems like a decent upgrade to it
