    What do you use to compress the springs to remove the keepers? I can get the followers off no problem. Have a guy I work with that has his own shop I'm going to have help since he has the aircompressor and tool to keep valves from dropping. Just need the correct spring compressor.

    I use the one with the hooks that go around the camshaft

    Yeah not sure if they will have that for rent at any of the parts stores and haven't seen that style on the shelf for sale. Not wanting to buy the tool for what will probably be a one time use.

    You'll use it more than once. However, I know what you're saying. I've seen a tool that you put over the retainer and hit it with a hammer. There is a magnet which will catch the locks.

    Parts stores should rent a valve spring compressor I would think. My buddy has one that I have borrowed a few times it comes in very handy! Just clamps around the spring at the bottom and you crank it to pull the spring closed so you can drop it enough to take the keepers off.

    Those will work, but they are a pain compared to the hook and lever type.
