    Re: Fuel Odor Question

Ok, checked the metal lines, all is good with them. I looked at the return hose again, and although the line is only about a year old it must have shrunk down some, as even with the clamps all the way tightened down the hose could be twisted around on the metal lines. I never tried twisting before, just looked for leaks. So got a new piece of hose (different brand) and new clamps, and although the new clamps do seem cheaper, they do seem to hold the hose tight to the metal lines. Ran the car, and do not smell any fuel or see any leaks as of right now, but will keep checking to be safe. Thanks to everyone for input.

The best clamps I've found are the Ideal brand. They are usually available at O'Reilly's although I usually have to tell the counter jockey the part number and where to find them. Otherwise they always point to the crappy multi-pak junk on the shelf. You can also buy the Ideal ones from Summit for a pretty good price if you don't mind waiting on shipping.

Well, after the weather turned cold tonight, started smelling it again, the supply line is seeping at the fuel rail. Will take a look more but have had issues on my 89 GTC convertible too when it gets cold with this....seemed like it was fine for a few years at least.

my subaru has done this before just when it gets cold.

every year or so i have to tighten all the EFI clamps some in the fall/early winter.

i recommend ABA fuel injection hose clamps. they are the bomb. ABA 22012 for 1/4", 22013 or 22014 for 5/16", and 22015 for 3/8".

Between the forum and IE my last post got screwed up so lets try again.

You can buy those clamps at many places but if you want a straight no BS, order by noon and they will be on your porch the next day. Mcmaster-carr does sell them, they are somewhat pricey though.

I have also purchased them from hoseclampkings.com as well but it took alot longer and the shipping was... excessive.
