Racing tonight at Wild Horse Pass (formally Firebird) in AZ

I'm racing the van tonight at Wild Horse Pass Motor Sports Park in Chandler AZ for Friday night drags. I haven't figured out my 25 psi boost problem yet but it runs and pulls strong at 20 so we'll see what it does. I want to see how much better my time is switching to a twin scroll manifold and turbo and an air to water intercooler. After tonight I start tuning for E85.

Sorry about posting so late. I got in late Friday, worked Saturday morning, was drinking with a buddy yesterday afternoon/evening, and then got home late. It was a less than stellar performance so I wasn't in a rush to post.

My best time was 14.6 and my best speed was 91 mph. At least now I'm solidly in the 14's where before was a struggle. It would have been nice to have them on the same slip. I'm way out of practice racing my van. It's been over a year. I only got four runs in in four hours. It was packed. It's better to drive forty minutes for four runs than two hours and only get three to six runs. It also didn't help that when I thought I was at the end it wasn't. It's not clear where the end of the 1/4 mile is.

Wow.....must be nice out there. Indy has Testing April 2nd and 9th for street tires...the 6th for slicks, and our first pts race isn't until the 13th. We used to ALWAYS test on the first Saturday in March and race on the following Sunday...but every since they started talking about global warming we haven't be able to run until mid April!

I'll be racing at Wild Horse Pass this Friday the 4th. I got my van street tuned on E85 and 20 lbs of boost. Last time it was 91 octane and 20 lbs of boost. I also installed the 3.5" exhaust and separate external wastegate exhaust since my last run. I'm hoping (like always) for 13's but I wouldn't be surprised if I only get 14.2-14.1 because that's usually the way it goes.

    13.5 @ 102 mph!

My first run out of the gate was 13.6, a full second faster on E85 from 91. After my 13.5 run I did a little show boating in the burn-out box and on the next run I was getting a lot of popping in the exhaust. I wanted to check my plugs and two of my spark plug wires came apart so I was done for the night.

    My 13.5 run:

No that was my Dad's goal for his wagon. My ultimate goal for my van is 12's. I was shocked that I got 13's tonight.
