    Non-ac L Bodies --- have a question

So this 86 GLH I just bought is a factory non-ac car. It is the first non-a/c car I've had that had the little air vents in the center console instead of the little convenience light. What setting do I need to place the heater controls to get the air to come out of those? No matter what setting I select the air comes out of the floor and defrost vents...never out of any of the vents on the dash or the center console.

I am not sure if mine is modified for the aftermarket air, but there is a little lever to the left of the console under the dash...

On factory non-A/C vehicles, the vents in the centre console are not operated by the HVAC controls, as posted above, there is a lever on the right side, under the dashboard. I believe it is labeled 'VENT' (right above the passenger's feet). The side vents (beside the cluster) are operated by the small level above the vent.

Mine has a little lever on the right of the console, kinda even with the vents just a little bit under the dash. It's labeled vent also

    Re: Non-ac L Bodies --- have a question

Don't the non-AC omni's outer dash vents just go right to the cowl? That's how I thought I remember it being on my 85 GLHT non a/c? And the vent knob only controlled heat to the center dash vents and foot area. Has anyone else seen this?

EDIT: I just realized that you are talking about the center dash vents - I thought you asked about outer dash vents...LOL! Sorry, nothing to see here, please move on

Well, I guess the only heat in non-ac cars comes from the defrost vents and foot vents.

The outer dash vents and the center console vents only route ambient air into the cabin.

Starting to think I'm gonna regret giving up a factory a/c GLH for a non-a/c GLH

You are correct on all counts. You will also get heat out of center vents and dash vents when it gets above 80° hehe.
Non A/C car in NM? Better sell that one to me. A/C is not needed where I live

Well you can install a heater control valve so you are not always getting hot coolant in the heater core.
